it's clearly made for the middle aged women
This time is different. During Michelle's years was mostly about fashion, and it was fun to see the other side of a first lady. But if you see this year, you will find the clear the politic position from Vogue, Anna and CN, which is quite bad for media (same case with Fox News for the other side). I know the last four years were a total disaster, but if you turn a fashion (sport, cultural, etc) magazine into a politic title, it's not good at all. But what can you expect from Miss Wintour???
I also love how they didn't feature Kamala and Jill on the March/September issues.
True, but it's the third political cover this year after february and may. It's American Vogue, not so relevant to me. I expect fashion contents every month in every Vogue because this is Vogue!. But let's wait for the inside. I keep my comment about media with clear political position. It makes some noise in a bad way.Anyone who claims that Vogue has never continually featured political figures and their family is either lying or ignorant.
Vogue has been featuring First ladies since the 1920's when Herbert Hoover's wife sat for the magazine. Here's a whole history of Vogue first lady shoots here
Jackie Kennedy was sketched for Vogue. You can see her Vogue appearances here
If you look at 1960s Vogue edited by Diana Vreeland you can see there is coverage of the WH social scene and DV even featured male cabinet members of the LBJ administration who were not household names...
I do recall one striking BW image of an LBJ appointee or cabinet member wearing a giant cowboy hat with his grandson....

Amanda Gorman may have been a part of the inauguration, but does that make her cover a political cover? Would you consider a Lady Gaga or Jennifer Lopez cover a political one if they appeared on the cover instead?True, but it's the third political cover this year after february and may.
Interesting, I think Jill Biden does have a fashion following/signature style. But I get the impression that's not the route her team wants to take. That of a style star. You can argue 'but she's on the cover of Vogue' but American Vogue is no longer a hardcore fashion magazine. They are, as you say, a cultural magazine. What Vanity Fair used to be, but without the rich journalism. Who knows, maybe September will be a return to the norm. But one thing is for certain, they need to get a proper creative director. I don't know what the magazine stands for anymore, stylistically speaking.
