US Vogue January 2019 : Priyanka Chopra by Annie Leibovitz

Glad to see them use Tyler Mitchell again. I'm here for this If Beale Street Could Talk tribute!

Also, Adut's editorial looks great. She gives jumping the energy it needs, unlike many of the newer models.

Thanks Benn for the review! This does seem like a throwback issue of US Vogue which makes me nostalgic. Definitely looking forward to it. I can’t help but feel bummed about the page count though. 102 pages?! That’s anemic even for January!

Thank you, Benn! I love both editorials and they should produce more. Considering January is not that important, I’m not surprised with the number of pages. I remembered there are 130 pages for January issue in 2015. Anyways, content is good and looking forward to the future issues.

Only a pleasure! I sort of typed it in between cooking, and only saw that I wrote a whole bloody essay when I posted it. Like the ones @Bertrando3 used to write back in the day whenever someone came for Coco Rocha or Tyra. Oh well.

Those two eds are good!
Lucinda is still a terrible stylist but Adut is a very good model so her beauty and confidence comes through...

Tyler is back! Yes.
The story is great and CN did a wonderful job on the styling.

AHAHAHAHHA no you didn´t just say that???! ahahaha kidding

Both edits are good, but my goodness we don't need to see the bollocks that Lucinda already infested UK Vogue with in latter years in the American edition as well! Such heavy, awful #marnigoals styling . Adut is amazing there though.

Both editorials are great, but I adore Adut's - it's so dynamic and fun, and even though leaping around in a studio is a US Vogue staple, this one feels really fresh.

I'm not going to take issue with your logic, because most of your points here are valid. My bigger concern is the narrative framing that Priyanka is some sort of criminally egotistical mastermind (see: that egregious article that was pulled from The Cut) and Nick is just some innocent bystander under her spell. I'm not saying you personally hold this point of view (I don't believe you do) but it reeks of "snake charmer" orientalism. Whether or not she wants to churn the PR machine is her call, but why the complete demonization of the woman while the man gets a pass?

Because the man is a douchebag that none of us care about to begin with. She is not. It wasn't a sexist comment, nice try though.

And no she is not the first to use her relationship for fame, but I would call those people out too, in a second. So I don't really get your point or need to quote my post, other than you must be quite a defensive fan of hers, but this ain't a fan board.

Note for anyone who's interested: Helena Suric, who was the Bookings Director at US Vogue from 2013 till November of this year, posted on Instagram recently that this was one of her last issues that she worked on. I'm not sure who the new Bookings Director is but I wonder if we'll see any changes to the models/celebrities cast in the magazine starting in February/March.

Apparently she’s not particularly popular amongst the Indian community, is this true?

Nice to see a south Asian on the cover. Still waiting on an Asian woman, you know, people who actually spend a shed tonne on designer crap, given a cover

No, we won’t see. The new casting director is Jill Demling

I'm pretty sure Jill Demling is leaving too though. She said this on her Instagram: "I am so happy to end my tenure here @voguemagazine on this cover [January 2019]! And here’s to a wonderful life!"

Camilla and Tyler's is my fav the wast was just too generic.
