I dislike the inclusion of those 'possible cover' images in editorials, like the one of Katy in the red skirt and black-top (or dress or whatever). The editorial feels disjointed and thrown together. I must say that I appreciate the styling and setting. It adds a personal dimension to the whole Katy story.
As for 'Identity Politics' it should have just been Fei Fei all the way. The other models look amazing but she could have carried all of those looks on her own.
boring and not in a good way. there's just something lacking from all of these eds. i remember lovin 90s eds because the clothes were just impeccable and lust-worthy or styling just so spot on. this tonne goodman ed for bazaar comes to mind. Even VOGUE's most reaching fantasies don't make me dream or hold sway like those simple 90s or even Vreeland era BAZAAR editorials still do. I wanted to emulate those ladies; their attitude, their grace.
I'd say the Nickerson/Sims ed is the best out of the bunch. Sasha is just so full of life in that shot where shes sporting that to die for mohair Jill Stuart sweater. Also The shot of Katy leaning up against that dilapidated red chicken coop is quite beautiful. Im likin the young Liz Taylor vibe.
Other than that it's just Testino doin Klein, McDean doin Leibovitz. Never cared for the drab yet harsh lighting in Identity Politics which VOGUE seems to be a fan of.
What a great content this issue has. I'm impressed with all of the editorials especially Testino's and McDean's. Although the latter's editorial shot screams Meisel to me especially with the cast.
