Holding Pattern merely survives thanks to the Vogue UK thematic, but there goes Willy's work on a dive as expected in Touch The Sky, trademark sculptural lines gone, color harmony too boring for 'funky' US Vogue readers, because they have to take a photographer in only to reduce his work to this flat collection of feel-good advertorial-looking portraits.
Light Brigade is amazing. I had to double look at the 'all black' term used every two posts after it was posted.. anyone that's been consuming magazines for over 2 years has had some basic exposure to the recurrent celebration of a certain type of beauty, sometimes you'll see the all Dutch editorial, all Brazilian, Polish, Asian... it's a bit stupid, not even sad, that whenever you see people putting some creative effort in working with a type of beauty that has not been explored the way others have (not even a 10%), and achieving a result that's aesthetically on point and feels honest and natural like all other 'body celebrations', for a change, and not like a cartoon as it could be easily predicted, we are met with this debate as to why and what are the motives behind it, is it an apology? is it honest? is it too much? can't we see other types of beauty too? ooh maybe it's a production that clearly involved racial discrimination. For god's sakes. Sometimes one wonders why fashion's become so boring, and there are multiple answers but one of them has got to be the incredibly lazy and simplistic viewer that claps happily at the same model, same hair color, same makeup and his only demand? more of the same because 'it's never enough!

', the beauty standard has to be reinforced and cherished at all times, god forbid it is brought into question with not even the criticism it deserves, just, gasp, a shy and well-produced visual alternative.
