US Vogue November 2020 : Naomi Campbell by Ethan James Green

Vogue28 I don't think so, it seems she is standing on something to get the unnatural height given the dress she is wearing. I doubt they would bother with all the photoshop, when you can do that trick.

Ethan, to me, is one of the best photographers of hsi generation, he really knows how to take a good portrait, and is a + for US Vogue.

I prefer the editorial to the cover. It´s weird to say it but Naomi´s the weakest imo :/

The shot of her in the silver sequined Valentino Couture dress would've made a better cover. She looks regal and fierce there, and it's the photo that best captures her persona. Instead they chose to convey some sort of pious sanctity on the cover, which almost comes across as a tongue-in-cheek joke considering the subject. They may as well have just called her "St. Naomi."

A strong portrait of black women and Kaia Gerber...WHY???

Ugh, Kaia ruins everything!

So all these models have appeared on Vogue covers and worked with a broad range of brands and photographers yet they're still outmodelled by Naomi. This is why she'll never retire. The second shot in the beige dress, that's stunning. If I were Anna I'd crop and edit that into a cover instead. Solid styling from Carlos, but I have to say that the recent WSJ menswear special with Alek Wek and Sean O'Pry (also photographed by Ethan) highlighted the difference between innovative styling vs going through the motions. Carlos needs to step it up, he's perfectly capable of great work.

Agreed about Ethan, I think he has found a place at American Vogue while still keeping his own identity. Now the dreaded bit, what will the content look like because that's where this magazine has been failing month after month.

Naomi’s reboot since she showed up for community service in Dolce & Gabbana has been extraordinary. She’s adores the spotlight, and in this day and age, it pays to be an “attention wh*re” (see: Kardashians). Naomi is as popular today as she was in the supermodel era. Probably even moreso.

It’s a different time. Shooting and logistics are difficult, mag sales are gloomy, and the clock in the U.S. has been stuck at 25 o’clock for several months now. Added to these obstacles that Vogue faces, Wintour knows the U.S. market requires a well-known celebrity to sell; we’ve watched this play out on U.S. Vogue covers for several years now. Naomi, apart from being a legendary supermodel, is also pure celebrity.

All controversy aside, I am loving the cover and edit. Naomi is unexpectedly subdued, and not va-va-voom. The editorial is absolutely glorious.

I would've preferred if she wore that sequined Valentino dress on a staircase or something, to show how unnaturally long the hem is. It took me a moment to realize that she's standing on something, and that it's a real photograph.

very good editorial even if I wish she wasn’t just standing there... and why not a couple more pictures? why include the other models?!! it should’ve been Naomi only!

also, apart from the other picture where her eyes are closed any of the other shots would’ve made a better cover.
deffo a must have!

I don’t necessary LOVE the ed but it’s classic US Vogue mix with classic Naomi. I love that she is wearing Valentino, Versace, Alaia, Riccardo’s Burberry. I’m surprised she is not wearing D&G I must say.
Considering how the designers in the ed are personal to her, the choice of Dior for the cover is kinda weird (even if we know the reason why).

Naomi has a presence buy I hate that we see the shoes in some of the shots!
The profile shot of Kaia is terrible but the rest of the ed is very good!

I must say, I’m surprised that she only choose models from this generation for her ed. I could have been great to see Jourdan for example.

This is a must have issue, it creates conversations and controversy and I must say that I’m kinda admirative of how she managed to rebrand herself. For that alone and for the long career, congratulations Naomi!

No thanks!
Scandals and all: no thanks.
Encapsulates all I dislike about Anna Wintour's Vogue
There are plenty of iconic black models.
I would much rather have Iman on her first solo US Vogue cover than this!
I can do without Lizzo, and Cardio B and Naomi.
And still no Iman!??

As Iconic as she is, it needs to make sense to have Iman on the cover of US Vogue...
A News attached, a special project. And when you have older celebrities on the cover, they needs to have a multigenerational appeal. If Iman did not get a cover of US Vogue, is more the responsability of either Vreeland or Mirabella than Wintour.

Wintour celebrated her retirement with a Newton ed but Naomi makes more sense from a generation POV alone. And she was her first September covergirl nevertheless...

Boring! the photo of her in the silver dress would have obviously made a better cover...
