Vanity Fair October 2025 : Dakota & Elle Fanning by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

It's early days to judge the direction, but it would be nice to have a Vanity Fair with some life to it.

She'd probably long since moved on by the time it was published, but the last issue under Radhika's name (Pedro Pascal) had a lot of content, but was so dull in tone that I could barely get through it, and I don't say that lightly, because I've managed to wade through a lot of written content in my half-century on this earth.

Give me a bit more glamour, scandal and the occasional iconic cover shoot.

Looks like Mark is just going through the motions here. Your first few covers are supposed to shake things up and make people pay attention. A cover with the Fanning sisters screams late to the party. Tonchi already did that with Sorrenti at their peak, in 2011.

When I think VF photography, I think photobook-worthy shots, which the cover is not. Also, that costume fits awkwardly on Elle. But I'm sure the stars and stripes will appeal to the older VF readers.

I see your point, but it’s also interesting to have them on a cover as adults, not teenagers. Especially if they’re starting in a film together. I don’t even think either of them were at their peak in 2011, especially Elle.

The cover will be eye-catching on the newsstands. I love it and the entire photo shoot is well executed.

Wonderful cover and editorial, September and now October, after almost 8 years of forgettable Jones covers we return to glamour, I can't wait to see what this new direction will do

Never asked for this, but yeah, so good. I forgot how much I like them. They're so low profile.

Is Vanity Fair about to get its spark back? Two covers in a row that I've kinda been obsessed with. I have such a soft spot for when Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin go down this Americana route - love the styling here. Every single element is just working here, I'm loving it.
