Visible Bras

whoa. taylor momsen = a mess.

i am for bra exposure if it is done correctly, a la gwen stefani. otherwise, it can end up looking like a train wreck, as taylor has illustrated quite well for us.

I find it a bit tacky... But if the bra insinuates and hold up my girls then I'm all for it!

I think a smooth, plain black bra under a sheer black top usually looks good. The photo from jakandjill is amazing- I would wear that in a minute. It seems like the trick to pulling it off to make it as un-lingerie-esque as possible and make it seem like a part of the outfit. Does that make sense?

It depends on how its worn.. As long as the woman wearing it is classy and isn't too big chested then i love it! otherwise it does look tacky, i don't like the outfits of the girls in the post by genevica.

Where i live this is a big trend at the moment. Especially the bra's of Marlies Dekkers. Every girl in my class has at least one :)
They are really beautiful and actually ment to be seen.
In most cases it's a nice accessory to the clothes they wear:flower:

It can be a good look but depends very much on what the bra is like and what the rest of the outfit is like. That silver sequin bra looks fab, and Gwen can mostly pull off the look. Unfortunately, I see too many of the wrong combos - like backless tops with overwashed grey (once white)bras on show. That looks so bad, as does Taylor. My mum would have gone spare if I had gone out like that at 16. (She wouldn't be too happy now at 32!)

I completely agree. Where can I get a killer sequin bra like that? ^_^

In the past I've seen sequined bras like that at Forever 21 & I've always thought they looked tacky, but she wears is so well that it has changed my thinking!

i think if the bras are pretty like lacey bras and this whole thing is tastefully done, it looks nice. girl in post #69 do it nicely.

having my bra hanging out is my thing.

i am a-ok with showing off underwear if it's classy and deliberate :) having the overdone lace edges of your trashy pushup bra or wide straps is not ok, but i think it can be done really well. obviously having your bra hanging out in a stupid way is bad, but as a deliberate choice i think it's great.

i am very flat-chested (32a) and so i often go without a bra, and when i do wear one it's usually showing. i wear mostly stretchy wireless lace bras or bandeaux; i love wearing thin white v-necks or loose summery blouses with a lacy black bra that you can just slightly see through the shirt. i also love thin racerbacks and tank tops and love when the armholes are low enough to see the bra a bit. or slit back shirts where you can see the bra also. or layering 2 slips as a dress, a dark one under a light one, which is similar.

(eep, sorry so many pix!)

@lafindesiecle -- agreed! i too am completely flat-chested, and it's much easier to pull of the showing of bras!

I think it's easier because you have a wider style of bra's you can choose from (ie bandeau, thin racerback) but you can still do it easily if you are above a B cup. I think you just have to be careful not to choose overtly sexy tops. But I don't think one is better than the other...

I like the way it's shown on the Fashion Toast blog...
but most attempts seem to look tacky

agreed -- tight/cleavage/bra showing is a little too over the top, the key is being subtle about it and not all 'hay check out mah boobies!.' since i don't HAVE cleavage it's a bit easier to avoid showing too much -- but I definitely think larger chested girls can pull it off well too. I think the loose-racerback-over-bra look would work for nearly anyone.

Not a fan of this look at all... But that's just me. This would be an outrage if worn where I live
