Visible Bras

Not a fan of this look at all... But that's just me. This would be an outrage if worn where I live

haha, I have this problem constantly where I read things here and am all, "what do you mean, you can't find those Acne wedges anywhere? how would this not be okay to wear? how is it a big deal that you saw such and such model in the street?" and then feel horrible because I remember that I AM AN ******* WHO LIVES IN THEIR STUPID LITTLE NYC BUBBLE AND FORGETS THERE IS A REST OF THE WORLD

In the past I've seen sequined bras like that at Forever 21 & I've always thought they looked tacky, but she wears is so well that it has changed my thinking!

Forever 21 sounds kinda cool! I see Fashion Toast gets a lot of stuff there. Is it an amazing shop in a kind of gloriously tacky way? Should I make it my business to check it out the next time I'm in the US?

it's incredibly cheap and low-quality but every store is full of a billion things and super disorganized and crowded and feels vaguely like going thrifting in a giant pile of glitter since you have to sort through so much and a lot of it is garbage. anything you buy there is going to fall apart after you wear it 3 times, but for trendy looking crazy things you want to wear out twice and then forget about for $20, it's pretty ideal. i'm more a fan of the 'invest in 4 quality pieces a season' thing but for cheap and fun stuff, it can be great. i find it's also great for cheap loud jewelry / accessories.

yeah, it's nothing glorious, but if you can survive heaps of low-quality clothing and a club-like number of people, then you can probably walk out of there with something you like. i can never spend more than 15 minutes there without going crazy. my method is to do a quick walk-through, and then scope out lingerie and jewelry.

Honestly, if you've never been to a Forever 21 before, you would probably love it.

Personally I can't pull it off, but i agree that Rumi rocks it! I think only certain people can do it without looking tacky

The visible bralette ("bra" made out of just lace) definitely looks better on small chested girls - a la Fashion Toast.
Actually, any visible bra looks better on if the chest is small - it looks less sexified/hoochie.

i think it also depends on the bra itself.. certain bras tend to look better than others (i.e. the sequined bra and the laced bra in #69 as compared to gwen's bra in #96)... looking at gwen's bra feels as if i caught a peek at my mom's bra! Also, rumi's bra doesn't have the traditional shape in the front, so it looks more casual as opposed to overly sl*tty...

so i guess the message of the day is to pick the right bras before you try this look? :D

As much as I would want to try this trend, I just can't. Bit too trashy on my figure, I think.

I really like how Ashley did the look in this photo:

I think this is one of the few ways the trend can be done nicely

Thanks for posting that picture of Ashley! She definitely does wear it in a good way, very casual.

^^ It probably looks alright on her cause she's a celebrity and they can get away with wearing more daring stuff. But I think on the average person, it would still look a bit too...risque? I know I would be stared down on the street if I went out like that.

I like this trend but the bras should be really expensive, very sexy, luxurious and so glamorous...!

I totally agree with you. Although I do think it looks cool and everything but I'm sure you won't see an average girl getting her starbucks coffee in the morning looking like this

I remember having seen that SATC episode.. it was one of the few Carrie looks that I didn't like..

I like this trend but I personally think it should be worn with a lace dress/shirt, or something like "Balenciaga FW 2009 dresses"
