Happily Ever Now
Happily Ever Now
She sat on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and a glass of Diet Pepsi. "What a wonderful way to spend Saturday night" she thought. She knew that all her friends were at the prom right now, probably dancing to some chessy song and having the time of their lives. She had been so excited for this night, knowing that her stepmother wouldn't be so heartless as to not let her go to her own prom. That was wishful thinking.

The theme of that years prom was High Fashion Couture, and she had seen the most perfect dress at Neiman Marcus. It was pricey, but you only go to prom once. She had gone to ask her stepmother for the money, thinking that it would not be a problem. "Cindy", her stepmother had said, "I simply cannot afford to buy another dress
, your stepsisters gowns were very expensive and i just don't think we'll be able to get you anything new. It's not as if a dress will make you look any prettier anyway; maybe you can just stay home instead? I'd be glad to rent you a movie"

And there she sat with a Miss Congeniality DVD, wanting to cry her eyes out. "Enough of this", she said to herself "I am going to go to my prom and that's that." She got dressed and quickly drove to her Grandma's House. Her grandmother had been an actress in the 1950's and had a closet full of pretty dresses and accessories. Although none of them would be her dream dress from Neimans, she would no doubt find something suitable.
Cindy and her grandmother quickly got to work. Finaly after about 20 minutes, she saw it. It was stunning. Modern and sexy, while still remaining very chic. The dress was short and made of feathers. She tried it on. It fit like a glove. Forget the Neiman Marcus dress! This was perfect Her grand mother added a pair of silver shoes. They straightened her hair and put on a bit of make-up. She was ready. "WAIT!!!" her grandmother yelled,"I have one more thing that would be divine" She ran to her closet and came back with a stunning silver scarf belt. She tied it onto Cindy's dress. Perfect.

She walked up the steps of the banquet hall where her prom was being held. She knew that people would probably not recognize her, but that didn't matter. She saw her stepsisters, who gave her a strange look, and walked right past them. No one would ruin her night. She found her friends and spent the rest of the night dancing. There there was no Prince Charming that night and she knew that her life would be far from perfect the next day, but right now, Cindy was having the time of her life and you can only live in the moment. Maybe it wasn't happily ever after, but it was Happily Ever Now.
