Vogue China March 2010: Du, Lily, Anna, Constance, Karlie, Liu by P. Demarchelier

OMG! I love it! Very US VOGUE May 2009. Love that they mixed Asian models and American Models! The colors are dull but still love it! Imagine the ed of these girls

But it's badly photoshopped. You can see that it's cropped then combined

they mixed Asian models and Caucasian models, not American models.
please note that not all Caucasian people are American. Thanks!

The Sept 2005 multigirl cover is amazing  I loved the styling and background. I'd say it's better than both those US Vogue covers. Don't wanna think about Vogue India, that's a nightmare.

But...now you posted the Vogue India cover I feel this Vogue China March 2010 cover has a very Vogue India feel to it

 @ how they put Anna J in the same exact place
what is the significance of this?

Maybe they want the blonde girl under the English title, and Chinese girl under Chinese title? That...or, she has a big chin which needs to be pointed downwards and to the side :D

I don't get it, why are Chinese so infatuated with caucasian models?? Is there not enough Chinese Models??
Don't get me wrong I actually like all the models in this cover but why only two Chinese??
Why not most of them Chinese and a couple Caucasians, are there really that many caucasians in China??
I am probably going to be hate on, but I just feel like Vogue China doesn't support their Chinese Models that much.

no I completely agree..just like when they launched the magazine they threw in Gemma Ward wasn't it?

Echoing everyones sentiments: this is very similar to US Vogue. Only a cheap looking take off.
Great to see Lily & Constance, Karlie looks good as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the contents.

I would have to agree.
Same thing applies for that Vogue India cover picture that was posted in one of the previous entries. With all those pretty and exotic-looking Indian girls, why did they throw Gemma Ward in there?

I have to say that I like this cover, very Demarchelier. All the girls look lovely and I hope they have an editorial inside. Let's wait for the contents. Also, the cover is very spring-ish and I like that.

Okay, sometimes I feel sorry for people who put their effort to create some work of art which is featured on tFS - I mean editorials, covers, advertisements, tests etc. becuase of all the critique they get here and in the other places on the internet. It's just a matter of someone's taste, saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" seems very appropriate. It's still a lot of work put in it and it's still an effect of someone's inspiration than. But in this case it can't be even called any art. I'm sorry but almost anyone could do it. Okay, I couldn't, I don't know computers enough. Any computerist or any person that knows something about photoshop could though. He doesn't even need to be sensitive for any deeper aesthetic impressions. Just give him a US Vogue May 2009 copy and he will copy and paste the models on a background from paint exactely in the same places where the ones who look quite alike for his taste ( maybe have a similar haircolour? ) are originally placed. I can't say anything on my feelings about the photo itself, because it's too overwhelmed but all the bad effects.

Jessica's supplement cover is beautiful, it looks better than the main one.
Anyways, i'm happy Liu is there. Yes, it looks boring but I like multi-girl covers.
Thanks.

I have to disagree a bit with you :flower:.
It's not because it's Vogue China that they only have to put Chinese models on their cover?!! There's enought chinese models it's clear, but it's a magazine of fashion, and it's nice to see a variety and a mix of models...
If it's like that, then why not French models on French covers and only English models for UK Vogue and so on...
But i agree when you say that Chinese Vogue should shoot more different chinese models and support them...

I do understand that it is a fashion magazine and all and should represent all that is fashion. But it is Chinese Vogue and you barely see a Chinese on the cover maybe two or three times a year Du Juan being in two of those times and the rest are caucasians, this cover would have been great if they had three caucasians and three Chinese imo. Vogue China was created because China is a big market in the fashion industry, Chineses are very fashionable. Its the same in advertisement from big brands trying to sell their goods to Chinese with Caucasian models in them, why not Chinese models if you want to sell to the Chinese or why not a mix of models Chinese and Caucasians. Iam all for diversity and mixture but one also has to stay true to the type of people that you are selling, support your country's photographers, models, stylists etc with also supporting international talent a mixture, a balance.^_^

Wow . They look even more airbrushed to oblivion than their US counterparts...it's very bland, pretty but bland.

It'd be interesting to know what the intention of the magazine was, are they making a cover about international top models & leaving room for the Chinese girls that are also making it abroad or, are they making a 'Chinese stars in fashion' cover?, if it's the latter, and they were trying to achieve something like this or this or this, then I understand how nonsense and almost offensive it is to see only two Chinese models featured on the story.
However, if it's the first option, if they're trying doing exactly what US Vogue did, which was score some of the top models of the moment regardless of their nationality, just going for who's more in demand.. which I believe was the real intention, then I don't see weird this suddenly is, did we criticize US Vogue for not having any American models on their multi-model cover? I'm not sure we did, and it was merely because at the time, there wasn't an specific American model with that much relevancy in the industry as say, Lara Stone. I'm conscious the argument is not so much about nationality as it is about race but if we don't have a Chinese model with the prestige and a portfolio as thick as Lily or Anna's, the fashion industry in general is to blame for that, covers like this feel more like an aftermath and to a certain extent, they unfortunately manage to represent more or less the racial tendencies (or issues) in model castings.
