Vogue Italia October 2013 : Edie Campbell by Steven Meisel

3rd cover of the year, and she still can't get it right. It doesn't matter the story she still has that comatose expression. I also don't get what is "modern" about this?

Edie again? Give me a break. This is just awful. The cover is beyond unappealing and this girl is so one-dimensional. She always has the same insufferable dazed, lethargic and drowsy expression.

I think Vogue Italia has lost quite a lot of the relevance it used to have. Sometimes they try so hard, sometimes they don't even try... but it never works as of late.

Okay, this is not fun at all. Edie again? Really? At first it was okay but it's getting pretty tiring. What's wrong with Meisel?

On the other hand, the cover reminds me of Chanel's F/W 09 campaign with Freja and Heidi. Looking forward to seeing the main editorial and I pray to God that it won't bore me like this month's.

I was doing a research about the whole "Teddy Boys" aesthetic and I came across this pic:

I think this was probably a strong reference for Meisel, since the overall vibe of the ed and the styling look very similar to this picture.

I can't stand her and I can't understand why is she so popular at VI.
And the cover does nothing for me.

Such a let down...Safe but BORING.I won't see it again.

I hope she can relax her face a little bit.Just insipid.VI can't go back to the past.

Yeah, I'm missing the joke here.

Like who would be compelled to buy this based on the cover? Awful.

I interpreted the 'Modern Eccentric' as saying that this particular style would be eccentric in modern times..Idk, I guess the phrasing doesn't make much sense- or enough sense initially- to work. I think she looks good actually but I don't like the cover overall-the border, the red, black & white combo. Just not my thing.

OMG the editorial is so boring :o

I actually really like the main ed. It feels like classic Meisel and I kind of like the smiling shots in between the images which exude a more 'haughty' vibe. The styling does look very similar to what we saw in W's 'A Modest Proposal' last year, but I don't mind because they're both good eds referencing the same era.

I don't hate the main editorial, since it puts you back into another era, but it falls short for me. I could have been very good since the theme was special yet it looks boring and repetitive. It's not that bad, but I think Miesel does have to take a rest from Vogue Italia. And I'm saying that because of what he has (more like not) delivered in the past few months. I blame Franca as well for not seeing what she has been publishing recently

Wow 3 Vogue Italia covers this year and I actually like them all.
