I really do love Summerton's work - it always makes me smile. It's also great that she's using Janete and Melo rather than the usual suspects everybody else is addicted to.
Also, reprints in Vogue Nippon?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Is it just one image or a whole editorial?
While the inside features look surprisingly strong, the cover is horrible. "Horrible" is literally the first word that came to my mind when I saw the preview, but I waited until I saw a full version before I made up my mind.
And it's still horrible.
I don't care much for Daria W., and this is a (cover) pose I've seen from her before. Also, this look is just dreadful on her (in this picture, at any rate); if they wanted to style her in a "nomad-like" fashion, why not shoot in the appropriate settings also? As a studio shoot, this look just falls flat.
Amazing portraiture in #27, though! There's a good deal of humor in some of the hairstyles, and I really love the background and lighting to which the models have been photographed. Thanks for posting the scans, Luxx!
^ is it the one in their October issue?, cause there was a lovely one in there, shot in Tangier and also styled by Cambos.. pretty fantastic.
Both stories seemed to have been inspired by folklore, except Burns' take is a bit more methodical, kind of costume-y, and I loved that Cambos' story was more on the eccentric side, it felt more genuine.
