Vogue Paris February 2016 : Edie Campbell by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

I feel demotivated looking at some of those images. Girls slouching around, doing nothing, looking like people with no purpose in life. Dull faces, depressed poses. I've seen plenty of boring editorials, but it goes beyond that. It drains my interest in this issue, which is a shame, because there are some nice shots in there.

This is exactly how I feel about this magazine's photography for some time now. With British Vogue I can look past it because the magazine is always well compiled as a whole, and the written content is good. I want to say it has to do with the photographers VP book (Sims, Alasdair etc etc), but these very photographers produce amazing work for others (ODLR & British Vogue respectively). This leads me to believe that the fault must lie with Alt and her team. Maybe they insist on these austere, gloomy type of stories devoid of any form of fun, confidence, and fantasy. And the French must love this sort of thing (no surprise there), which is why the magazine is such a hit with them. Unfortunately they lost their spot as the international leader of the pack, the prestige which Carine and JJB left this mag with is gone. Havent been bothered to buy an issue since November!

Which somehow bothers me because Alt's individual work (the ed she personally styles) usually end up amazing. And yet, the other editorials featured fall flat. Her work is always very VP, and yet the editorials beside it, just feels like it was taken from a different dimension, does it not? Although I agree with you, the photographers they hire also play a role here. Sims, Alasdair, Colier +++ work so well with other magazines because their aesthetic is 100% the same with that magazine's aesthetic. British Vogue produces content that's not even shot by Alasdair, but screams Alasdair. That's why it's weird to see the main editorial being shot by the VP mains, then the other editorial by someone new. That's why the direction is almost always all over the place.

That's also why I wish Geraldine was in the main roster because her work somehow embodies what VP used to be (presupposes she works with I&V, M&M, Sorrenti). Combine her work with Alt, then we'll have a VP reminiscent with the old days, but still reflects their style and the now. The roster they have styling the main editorials now could take over British Vogue anytime of the day and we won't even notice the change.

Who's job is it to check the overall fashion editorial content? That person is clearly not giving Alt proper advice.

If the editorials we see are not much to our liking, imagine how we'd react when we see those who scrapped entirely.

i love some of the styling, there are some good shots. edie's edit is the best.

Apart from a few shots of Alasdair McLellan's story, I'm not interested in anything else this particular issue has to offer (besides the cover). Emmanuelle Alt has changed Vogue Paris so dramatically, over recent months! Suzanne Keller has obviously had some input and I'm seriously starting to dislike her aesthetic (even though I wasn't a fan of Self Service to begin with). Not to mention all these bland and lifeless models here, UGH!

Another boring issue from Alt. When I think of Vogue Paris, I still think of glamour and sexiness. Alt obviously took another direction and after some time I have gotten used to that.
But these past few issues have been especially bad. Why are Vogues pretending to be indie magazines? Even indie magazines don't do what they should be doing anymore. Like lelaid has said, VP should be a leader, not a follower. Models here mostly just look either bored or pissed off, without any energy. These aren't the best times for fashion, I hope this ends soon and better times come.

One of their worst issues! I dislike everything about this, the cover, the fonts and of course those boring models, is this a copy of i-D???

This issue is worth it for Lineisy alone.

She has a great look for the moment; She’s like Jayden Smith as a girl— like, literally. And that’s interesting to me. She’s not going to be around long once people get bored of her always looking bored and scowling. But that’s fashion: You’re everywhere one day, and the next day, everyone’s moved one. So I’m enjoying her look for the now.

This cover has grown on me. I'm not sure why as I still think the hair looks like some Fashion Granny.....

David Sims would have been a better choice for Edie. He always has good hair in his shoots.....
