Vogue Paris May/June 2020 : Bella & Gigi Hadid by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

I have to say that I love this, specially Bella's cover, I might even buy this issue. Fashion really is made to make people dream.

Bella's is decent, but gigi's though, that purple makeup around her eyes does NOT work.

I love the covers. That’s all I need to forget the chaos of world. That’s why I love Alt and Vogue Paris.

Rianne was on the location too I guess she’ll be in the editorial love bellas cover giving me fierce glam

"So many businesses in the fashion industry are going bankruptcy and hardly staying afloat. A dream is not going to save them!"

Imagine having the audacity to say these words to a magazine producing an issue to sell and avoid the need of laying off its employees. The comment is tone-deaf. It's as if Vogue Paris is not a business in itself also trying to stay afloat by producing an issue.

A dream may not save fashion houses, but producing an issue will save tons of employees. Check your privilege sis.

I completely agree with you specially because fashion houses are build and live on the idea of dream, nobody really needs dresses that cost a fortune, made with luxurious materials etc. but people need to dream... I remember Karl Lagarfeld saying this on an interview on french tv.

Finally, some ****ing glamour! Emmanuelle's editor's letter for this issue summed it up perfectly. These are very bleak times and instead of reminding us of the sad state of the world, fashion magazines should be doing what they were always meant to do: offer dream and escape. I'm so glad that Emmanuelle decided to stay on brand.

These covers are solid and oozing with glamour and in a sense timeless, the last thing I would have expected from Emmanuelle Alt. At least someone is showing up to work. At this point I'm tired of the Grecian goddess schtick every magazine seems to lay on Bella, more taken with the golden and festive feel of Gigi's cover. The problem is the casting. They really should have gone with other models instead of these overexposed two.
At least Rebecca's cover was refreshing not only because of the styling and design, but because it was her.

May/June.....I'm sure we'll see a July/August issue.

I actually prefer Gigi's cover here! It looks a little more confident artistically... Bella's looks like it's inspired by '70s glamour without committing 100%; her cover looks a little more costume-y to me.
I love both covers though! I'm happy to see Emmanuelle chose this direction!

The complaints make me wish they were styled with even more opulent clothes and jewelry.

Gigi is such an awful model, she looks like a scared nouveau riche housewife that's just realized how vulgar her make-up is once she sees all the other sophisticated women at the charity ball.

I love both covers (although Gigi’s is a little eyeshadow heavy) but I think they are really glamorous. And I don’t mind that they aren’t iphone shot pictures it’s a nice escape from everything going on!

From heavy make-up to heavy styling - I love it!! The Hadids, opulence, vintage glamour - what's there not to love?
At first I prefered Bella's because I love the clean, Grecian vibe and she's so beautiful. But the more I look at it the more I prefer the heaviness and pure glamour of Gigi's cover. The jewelry looks magnificent, the rich golden tones and even that utterly vintage bright eyeshadow - it's perfect! I've been spending a lot of time exploring some early editions of Vogue Italia and this type of old glamour has grown on me significantly, although I've always had a thing for it, so the timing of these covers couldn't be better for me! Hopefully I'll get a chance to buy this issue. Can't wait to see more

I get where they wanted to go but the outcome is super cheap, sorry. I honestly don't know why is that... Maybe the background?

I like both, because when compared to literally any other cover these are masterpieces. Also, cannot wrap my head around the fact that Gigi has the big four and Bella does not?

The only bad thing about these covers is that they want we to break off the lockdown and just travel to Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat or Monaco, don’t give a damn that I am a guy and wear the hell out of Bella’s dress!

On a serious note, that overdone make up is some chemistry abuse.

Bella's cover is gorgeous! It's so nice to see some unapologetic glamour - exactly what I want from a fashion magazine.

I understand publications want to reflect the times, but some of it is just plain depressing. Until a magazine can respond to global news by delivering something as beautiful and poignant as Meisel's oil spill shoot for Vogue Italia, I'd rather they kept out of it.

Happy to see Vogue Paris is business as usual and providing us with the escapism we need.

I'm quite surprised at such a positive feedback so far... But given the offer during the current worldwide situation, I believe VP's commitment through these two covers is much welcomed.
Styling is  and cropping would've been better above the hips. I couldn't be less thrilled by a full Hadids casting but it is what it is. Bella's everlasting signature stiff face is annoying at this point. Gigi's eye makeup is over the top but that shade of purple is what makes me like it more and I think I'd go with that one cover.
Anyway, I'm all for a "et si on rêvait" escape right now. Yes we need that and I'm glad VP decided to go this route instead of another DIY home series. Curious about this combined May/June issue, but it makes sense.

Can't believe that Gigi shot, ouch! However Bella's totally works, love everything about it!
