Vogue Paris September 2013 : Saskia de Brauw by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Im loving the cover, Saskia looks bada** and sexy, its a avant garde version of grunge and it works for me. Excited for the contents!

From the preview of the main editorial it appears that M&M have chosen to rip off Meisel's style this time. :ninja:

I like the cover.

As with all thing Mert & Marcus, as good as their work can be, and as much as it's clear they love fashion, they're never original: Even the best of their work reminds you instantly of someone else's. In this case of this cover, it's very Bruce Weber for Versace (featuring Courtney Love). And yes-- as mentioned by some, Saskia really is channeling Eve Salvail very well.

Like it or not, the Saint Laurent collection is already one of the most influential of the season. Every magazine is making grunge inspired editorials, stars are wearing it on the red carpet and Zara just copied the whole look. It's an undeniable hit, so the industry in just going with the flow.

I think the reason the magazines are doing so much grunge is because Saint Laurent keeps putting out a million campaigns since Hedi went there, so I think Saint Laurent is quickly becoming the biggest advertiser for the magazines. And it's known that Hedi Slimane has a huge temper and is obsessed with himself, and that the brand is a complete has become a huge PR mess., so these magazines have to appease him. I mean, his collection was like, the only grunge one during fall. Everything else was punk. And it wasn't even the first grunge based collection this year!(DvN Spring 2013) So I think they're just sucking up to him, because he gets what he wants.

I'm sorry but you make no sense whatsoever. Every Saint Laurent advertisement I saw in magazines is the standart double page like all other brands. The fact that Hedi make more images for the campaigns, doesn't mean overload on mazines but diversity of the pictures displayed from magazine to another. And please, the industry is not kindergarten. If they are collectively highlighting his collection it's because the editors feel like it's a relevant message to put in their magazines, also with a connection with the market. You're taking things too personally.

I always think that Mert&Marcus's recent works are not very suitable for Vogue Paris ,like this one..If I saw it in W magazine or others,I would say wow.But for Vogue Paris, emmm,I am not sure.

This is actually one of Emmanuelle's better editorials.

I love it, the styling, the mood, the light, it is indeed a bit W, but still Saskia looks incredible, so do Suvi and Andreea, not to mention Vivien who makes it all even better.

No, the industry is not like kindergarten. The industry is a corporation and full of suckups. Don't you notice that the majority of clothes that Vogue US puts on the cover are clothes from major advertisers? That collection had nothing to say to anyone. It was most likely designed by a design team the size of the United States military. There was nothing relevant about that collection. Grunge is like a zit on the nineties. The only ones who still hold on to grunge are Courtney Love and Sky Ferreira (who's really just a wannabe imo).Hedi Slimane lost his relevance when he left Dior Homme, and even before then everyone thought he was just one-note. And he still is one note.
