W August 2009 : Lara Stone by Steven Klein

So they are really doing this Bardot thing all the way huh? I wish it was just Lara but not Lara trying to impersonate someone.

Now for the positive aspects: Lara looks stunning, really sexy without being trashy and cheap (which is sometimes an issue with her).

The cover looks a bit like Kate Moss to me, or whatever they are trying to make Kate look now. A little redundant. Could have been smthng a little more original, esp. for an August cover that needs to be exceptional to sell.

The editorial is nice, but I had higher expectations... Boring styling and poses -_-

I expect a little more article though. Nevertheless, she looks awesome.

Not my absolute favorite Lara editorial ever.[/SIZE]

I know what you mean. I really like the shot with the umbrella/parasol.
Thanks for the scans!

I am so glad he didnt went with his usual
S&M and cold styling with Lara, imho it has been overdone in his work, and erotic, highly sexually
charged looks have also been overused on Lara.
i totally agree. i'm really surprised - and glad - that it's not only the cover that is different from his usual aesthetic. lara looks amazing in every shot. it's true that they could have done something less bardot since she's been compared to her all the time, but i think it was very well done this time, not like her early works. she doesn't look like a mere look-alike, she looks like a 2000/edgier version of BB, similar but still unique. i love it.

She is such a stunning woman.

Lara's ed is beautiful but there's something that makes it dull.. I'm not blaming its simplicity.
Thanks for scanning, Luxx.

^Actually Lara has been working longer than Daria if I'm not mistaken :innocent:

as i said i didnt mean to start a challenge, so maybe you misunderstood the spirit of my post. but as a precisation let me say that we aren't talking about how long models have been working - and i think both of them started in the late 90s, daria at least in 1997 -, but about their status as top models. btw, if that means anything, i see daria's old thread was started more than one year before lara's - in january 2004 - and just because it was almost the beginning of tfs too, otherwise it would have been started in 2003.
what i mean is that daria was the it-girl in 2003-04, now it's lara's time, next year it will be another one. it's always the industry trying to push it harder and dying for new names. but personally i think kate moss is the last icon, maybe gisele a bit.

Sorry I made the impression I misunderstood the spirit of your post.

I agree with your last comment.

but personally i think kate moss is the last icon, maybe gisele a bit.
that's true. i don't think any of these models who are making it big nowadays have the same impact in the fashion industry as those two had, especially kate moss of course. i prefer sasha pivovarova or lara over gisele (although i think she's a great model too), but that obviously goes beyond personal taste. many years from now people will still remember her but i'm not so sure they will remember these girls, i and many of us will, but people who don't really pay attention to models' names probably won't...

Very Bardot! I like it, but it defeats the purpose if she can't be LARA, not Lara as someone.

The editorial is nice, but I had higher expectations... Boring styling and poses -_-

I feel the same way. Some shots are better than others. And the edit is very allover the place and incoherent. I like the fact that they showcased Lara's versatility though.

Thanks again for the amazing scans, Luxx. I loved Lara's feature, it's more human, it makes you wonder about her and want to find out who she is or what she's done in the industry, I'm so glad they didn't take the predictable route of showing her as another model body with no thoughts or voice (VP!), and she's so genuine in her interviews, you just can't help to like someone that answers so naturally.. she's clearly been in the industry long enough to taste its bitter side and not egotrip in it and make cheesy or pretentious statements..
My only complaint is the same as everyone's.. the lack of emphasis on her personality shown through the images, I don't think it was the best moment to make a tribute to Bardot.
Other than that, kudos to W.. I can't wait to buy this when I go back home.

I like how she alludes to Anna Wintour asking her to fix her teeth! After the preview for The September Issue, that makes so much sense...her "gentle suggestions" LOL

^^ When i read that, i was totally sure she meant Wintour as well, ha!

i don't really like the ed that much. but thanks for posting, Luxx. :flower:

LOVE Lara so much. She's the future!
