Why do you like/hate Dior?

As much as I hate logo crap, you have to admit it does sell...

We know it sells! But thats because people wanna show off with their money and look expensive, and one of the best ways to do that is to buy logoed accessories and clothes. Lol u know i reckon in a little while longer John Galliano might actually end up like Amanda Lepore hahahahaha, if he already isnt.

^He thinks he can do it with his current male-body
...not working, though

 i dunno, hes getting pretty close but he needs to work on his lips but hes definately got the attitude.

Actually when I mentioned Heatherette I was just surprised that you love Heatherette and not Dior.. because they are actually sort of similar in ways. I sort of think of Heatherette as the teen version of Galliano.. the collections, imo, aren't as deep or as artistic.. but still rather cool and trendy. And actually, just to point it out, it is metioned on Heatherette's website that galliano is a fan of the brand.

I love Heatherette and I hate Dior.
Heatherette is comepletely different than Dior. Yes, Heatherette is tacky as hell. But that is what makes it appealing: it's supposed to be tacky. Richie Rich designs with humor, irreverence, and lots of nostalgia for clubkid days.
But Dior is tacky when it tries to be fashionable. Maybe I'm wrong and Galliano is trying to be irreverent and ironic, but if so then people who wear his stuff don't get it. It's really the people who wear Dior that make me dislike it rather than the clothes themselves.

With all that being said....If someone were to offer you FREE Christian Dior Apparel, bags, and shoes covered in logo's....I BET YOU'D WEAR IT THEN!!! If Dior doesn't offer the designs you like than what designers do you like???

NOPE! I'd flog that stuff on e-bay so fast your head would spin, then spend the money on something I actually liked.

The only advantage that Dior offers me is the price that crap can be sold for. My friends and I have made huge mistakes buying Dior accessories, they all wear away really quickly, they're hardly good in quality, but Dior cosmetics I like, thats pretty good, especially the perfumes. mmmmmm Hypnotic Poison.:p

only stupid people buy Designer accessories like dior, lv, and gucci
ok for those who too-free-to-b*tch-and-act-like-know-everything mamas

http://www.fashionfile.com/videoplayer.html?source=s04vid/Dior.rm

in the end of the video, galliano was asked "Do u realised that spectacle has to have substance"
gallianos said "yes but we should never forget the magic and poetry.its because THAT'S WHY I"M HERE

(...) I think he has gotten lazy either bring in a new designer or something an Hedi Slimane for Dior Homme is pure trash I hate his clothes so depressing his male models look like crack addicts. (...)

since when it became wrong to look like a crack addict?  :ninja:

oh yeah people are grambling like grandmere that galliano is not following the image and tradition of the house of dior (which i depict as dusty grandmere's boutique). look at the men wear line. Where is the gentle Frenchmen like louis vuitton and givenchy? all the skin-clad drug addicts hooligans are walking on the runway and even hedi's coool designes are not suitable for Dior's image
i found that all logo craps are not to blame the designers but are to blame those marketing managers. it is because even homme bags also came in logos as same as femme's. look at the dior homme monogram bag below

Theres such a big gap between people who hate Dior and people who like it...Im kind of in the middle...is anyone else? I hate the commercial side of Dior, but I love the couture side...and I love the people who wear it with style, but I hate the people who make it tacky...Know what I mean? I personally like sitting on the fence, rather than on one side...

I agree with you but I happen to like just some of the commerial side and some of the Couture.

It was good when Ferre was there.

I have to agree...much more Dior. Much more beauty.
Galliano should stick to Galliano.

I can't believe you start a thread about how Galliano is garbage and turn around and say Heatherette and Dsquared are better. Heatherette also stamp their names on their t-shirts, Dsquared have hats, belts, shoes, and bras with their name stamped on them. EVERY DESIGNER HAS LOGOS....

Also the point was mentioned that if Galliano in the early days didn't have the budget like Dior his stuff would look like heatherette.
Are you even aware of his earlier work from the 80's? The cuts in his clothes are incredible!

Let me clear this up, Hedi started well. He started very well, and if you see the last collection, please note that it has the substance that you could connect with the original Christian Dior more readily. In between, there has been some trash from Hedi. However, Hedi is not vulgar as Galliano is.

About the models... they are models for heaven sakes! - there's nothing wrong with having slightly ugly people on the runway, either. It's rather pleasant to see the clothing worn on more normal looking models (although I see that everywhere now, with the exception of Versace, etc )

and how can you complain about Dior Homme being completely opposite of the original Dior, and then praise Galliano?

And since you mentioned Yves Saint Laurent - he worked for and trained under Christian Dior himself, later to take over the house ---and guess what? He approves of Hedi Slimane. More than Galliano could ever say.

(Not that I like Hedi Slimane very much either, but he's looking a bit better in my book as of late)

Gallianoboy - please don't generalize. Many designers have logos (present on the tags), but they are not plastered all over the clothes, most actually only have VERY discreet logo on the clothing or only on the tags. If the only designers that you buy from, or whose collections you look at all have logos - that's another thing. Dior does it. Many - actually most - others don't. I have a tendency to respect those others over labels like Dior Femme.

Unlike Dior, who slobbers his name and monogram on any piece of clothing he sees, Heatherette does it normally and in a neccessary manner they dont stick their names wherever they can.

Oh and and what the hell is up with that lame Dior Baby brand, thats sooooo try hard, out of all the try hard ways to get attention writing your name and monogram on a babys bottle is by far the worst.

And id like to inform everyone that that bottle is actually 80 dollars.

yea...but it's DIOR, it's HAUTE COUTURE *buys*

 As Galliano would say, anyway......he seems to have the impression that by buying a Dior lipstick or lotion that you're taking Haute Couture for your skin home. Hey, who says babies can't drink milk out of Haute Couture?

etc,etc,etc.....
random pictures from style.com/ all gorgeous, creative, saying something beyond please look at me, i´m a circus freak!!!!!, there´s no way you could even start comparing Dior and Heatherette, i wasn´t even going to keep on this very childish discussion but i think people have to be responsible for the things they post, as a Dior and Galliano fan i can find myself shocked that someone who says that likes heatherette, dislikes Dior because of its apparent tackyness, heatherette is the epitome of trashy, unfounded, plain and horribly executed, nightmarish vulgarity, they aren´t even creators but lucky, attention seekers ex dancers (i don´t care if i made a mistake on their previous occupations, i don´t care about them and i don´t waste my time searching for anything related to them), Galliano is a true artist and couturier that have given enaugh contributions to the fashion world to be on the position he is today, if you don´t believe me, buy an updated or recently released fashion history book and you´ll realise why one can´t even start making the slight comparison between those two labels.

How can you say Dior is nothing like Heatherette? I don't understand your logic. To say that, you're no longer just a Dior fanatic, but you're in denial! Galliano himself may be completely different in terms of background or even the history of the house, but that's not to say that what he produces doesn't come out looking like something Heatherette...

We just keep getting back to the logo's, though, which is sort of sad because Dior also uses (or used to us) fur! If anything should make you dislike a brand, it should be something like that.

There aren't logos on everything, and I don't see why it is such a big deal to some of you! I mean, if you don't buy the logo items from other brands, what is difference here, other than the fact that there is just more of it? And for the last time... it is the company Dior which puts the logos on things, not galliano (these "things" are mainly bags.. buy your bags somewhere else if you dont like the monogram). I doubt that heidi would put logos on bags as well. This sort of thing shouldn't make you disrespect a designer.

I don't see heatherette as a respectable brand. I know it is very creative and trendy, but it sometimes looks like they are trying to make it look like haute couture.

The MAIN thing you should respect a brand for is their ability to create artwork.. for the designers ability to give us some sort of message through his or her work. Dior (homme and femme) is the perfect example of that.
