Why do you like/hate Dior?

^ Yeah...I guess it would have been around...2003 for runway...but I think the Blue logo bags were about 2000? Because I remember a show full of Dior blue Logo...

Well even if the Dior logo is more popular because of paris hilton, it has nothing to do with fashion. Dior has more to offer than logoed bags.

Absolutely

Well I never mentioned anything about "Dior logo'd bags" so I don't know where that came from... I'm talking pop cultures contribution to Dior's popularity...

We went a bit off topic in discussing the "popularity" aspect of Dior, so you're right in that that aspect of it all has nothing to do with fashion [the design aspect of fashion, at least].

by the way, what the hell "paris hilton" to do with galliano and dior?

Right, because Dior is so popular, you dont like it, I see..

...maybe i'm just not getting the point of the post you made (on the previous page) .. or am I?

Like I said before Paris Hilton is a walking advertisement for anything. Dior just happens to be one of those things, she has nothing to do with Dior's fashion and I hope she never does cuz shes got the worst taste Ive ever seen.

excuses to all Dior-philes BUT i totally and completly hate Dior products, from clothes to accessories and make up, the whole brand looks too cheap (must be their whole image that annoys me so much)

Yeah, thyeve advertised themselves soooo much it just looks plain old cheap cuz its obvious that Galliano's desperate for attention-I mean who the hell makes jackets with the label monogram on it unless you're begging to be noticed.

What's wrong with wanting to be noticed...Putting on make up can be an excuse for wanting to be noticed!!!????! Why all this drama over a LOGO...are you serious!!!!

they just made a few logoed collections (in fact, they are not main collections from runway). Even gucci, LV, Celine, fendi....they all do that.... i don't know what the hell are you making a big deal out of it and keep scolding it as though they are trying to stamp the logos on you big grandmama's face.

Um, the fact that Dior is popular has nothing to do with my not liking it. I don't think you got what I was saying. and I have no idea where this "logo'd bag" stuff came from... who was talking about logo's?? Not me...

Not sure if this was directed at me but I understand that and you are right, she is a pathetic walking advertisement... I'm simply saying that I think the reason for Dior's sudden boom in popularity amongst the younger generations is in part due to Paris Hilton. If Paris Hilton likey than all 14 year olds likey...

by the way, what the hell "paris hilton" to do with galliano and dior?
How about you try reading the post...

ONCE AGAIN... Dior's popularity was brought up. Different people posted there thoughts on why it became so popular. I posted mine. I truly believe pop culture was a major influence. Also, Dior having more to "offer" doesnt work with me as I (as stated) am no Dior fan... with that being said, Dior having more to offer depends on who you're talking to. That's your opinion not mine.

Okay, how about an example to sort of TRY and explain what I'm getting at...

The Fendi Spy Bag, yes it is a beautiful bag (I have one so I dont doubt that), but one cannot say that the reason it was labelled a major "it" bag had nothing to do with the fact that EVERY celebrity was holding one in EVERY photograph they'd been in... same goes for the Balenciaga motorcycle. You cannot claim that its popularity amongst the "hot younger" celebrities had no influence on its popularity in general. It was a MAJOR influence... This is sort of what I'm getting at with Dior (not handbags) but pop cultures interest in it in GENERAL.

Once again... the logo is for business...In fact, Dior probably tells galliano to put logoes on things. And if not, I have no idea why you should hold it against the brand. A lot of the clothes do not have the Dior monogam (which is what I meant by "more to offer"). Also, as someone said already, most brands have monogram things.

About the "image..." Why would you not like something because of the image? That is sad if you ask me. You should come up with your own ideas and opinions on the brand. Be open minded people... you cannot just NOT LIKE DIOR because it is dior.

Most? I can only think of a few, and even less of those who actually use it as much as Dior...

Most of the big names do though. And again, i'm sure if Dior did not ask Galliano for logos, he wouldn't us them as often.

EDIT: I dont know why we are still talking about logos, they are pointless in talking about fashion, and in the clothes themselves.

Look the fact is that people nowadays in today's world are far too obssessed with looking rich. And buying monogramed clothes from High Fashion labels is a perfect way to do that. Dior happens to be one of those labels that stick their monogram on anything, thats a big factor to why they're successful.

Ah, but the fact is that wearing monogrammed clothes does not make you look rich, but cheap and tacky...

The logoed stuff is usually the lower-end designer wear.
