i forgot...i recently purchased a blk lthr wrap skirt at bergdorf by claudie peirlot...i haven't worn it yet...but i plan to wear it with a s/s ecru/heather grey wide stripe cashmere sweater from j crew...and a 2 1/2 " round toe t-strap shoe...it just reminds me of a french beatnik...think audrey in funny face...i really want to wear a beret with it...but it's just too silly  ...and it will have to be opaque striped tights...NOT FISHNETS...or it really would become french streetwalker...
:flower:
i'm convinced! loving that. I would wear the beret - you live in New York - if you can't get away with it there... one summer years ago when I was a student,I tramped about Edinburgh with a grey felt beret on - I loved it but I got lots of strange looks.. but I didn't care.
you know what...you're right...i'm gonna wear the beret!!!...thx helena!!!... :woot:

getting too excited by this topic!! must calm down.

talking of buttons - I bought new buttons yesterday to sew onto a claudie pierlot coat I got in paris in march - the coat is slightly military stly (navy - so typical) and the original buttons are just plain round plastic. But I bought some blue buttons that have a gold trim around them - going to sew them on tonight - I think it should be good. i was thinking of starting another topic to see what people do/have done to customise their clothes - like new buttons or cutting sleeves etc

I have to go & do some work though.

Nothing that bares too much of a breast; use something to secure a really plunging neckline and wear something underneath a very sheer top, nipples work on a runway, but there are rules beyond fashion in the real world.

- Flip flops that are ultra thin
do you mean leather thong sandals...or rubber flip flops...
Yeah, I actually meant leather thong sandals!!! I am addicted! I have these in silver and I just love them! These are a bit different from the usual straw thong since they cross in your big toe, but still, they're thongs and they're are so cute and comfortable.

And what's cool with thongs is that they're rather cheap so you can buy loads of them! :P

that combo doesn't always look bad :P

I love wearing my Marni coral/red long jacket with white shirt and dusty green skirt, the result is amazing

this is all much enlightening...

for me, i'd have to say

no acid washed jeans, EVER

no ultra tight jeans or ultra baggy or bell bottoms, EVER

i avoid wearing orange and other bright colors

no tight silk shirts

avoiding flashy logos....but i ahve to say i like designer wear more becasue its usually more comfortable and fits perfectly..

recently, i've been trying to venture into the fiftiees...or forties....do you think ki should???

Attached pic of Christy wearing red & green together - surely dispelling that old saying that 'red and green should never be seen except upon an Irish Queen'.

* Black is in almost every outfit I wear
* No bare legs in winter - opaque tights are a must
* Dress for comfort when it is needed (shopping, dinner etc.)
* Points and round toes are both my friend, lol.
* Converse high-tops are a must for a long day of shopping
* No stupid 'babe' 'hot grrrl' slogans on t-shirts
* Never wear too much makeup - simple suits my skintone/face
* Always wear stand-out earrings
