- Flip flops that are ultra thin

do you mean leather thong sandals...or rubber flip flops...
Yeah, I actually meant leather thong sandals!!! I am addicted! I have these in silver and I just love them! These are a bit different from the usual straw thong since they cross in your big toe, but still, they're thongs and they're are so cute and comfortable.

And what's cool with thongs is that they're rather cheap so you can buy loads of them! :P [/b][/quote]
i almost bought those silver thongs at the gap too!!!...funny kim...there are a number of overlaps in our rules...hhahaha...

saad...i don't know what you mean by 40's or 50's...do you mean a zoot suit or rockabilly or what?...i think you should have fun and experiment...in any case!!!..

they aren't that expensive and totally worth the investment...i've had mine for years...they have recently been re-issued...but who knows for how long...i just love the round toe...it's chunky without being dumpy...just so cute and perfect... :P

I got my tax return today so I went out and bought the adidas campus shoes in black. I was tempted to buy a green pair as well but didn't. They were only $50 but I've bought so many pairs of shoes recently. :ninja:

Oh that reminds me of a fashion rule: I try not to wear one brand head to toe. Sometimes you can't avoid it if you like really like shopping certain places but I don't like looking a walking manequin.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that, providing that you don't have logos all over. Designers present outfits for a reason.

-If i'm wearing a mini skirt i never wear a sleeveless top-showing everything at once is not classy
-I never wear anything a size too small
-never wear tights with open toed sandlas-yuck! yuck! yuck! (I hardly wear tights as it is)
-I try to stay away from all black-i try to break it up with a different colour for shoes/handbag
-Apart from Louis Vuiton, I stay away from logoes. I used to love my Dior saddlebags but now I go for Balenciaga etc. I don't know why i started doing this recently-I guess I just see so many of the same handbags around logoes aren't so special anymore.
-i never ever wear anything I don't feel comfortable in, even if it is that season's "it" item-if you don't have the confidence to pull it off, it will not work.
-when in doubt, seven/diesel jeans, balenciaga handbag, fur gilet, and/or cropped black velvet YSL jacket. It always works sticking to an outfit you know well. :P

I'd have to agree with that. I have a single mini skirt and I tend to wear it with a turtleneck. Sort of balances things out. ;) :ninja:

I don't really have any rules I guess because all the things I hate, I would never buy, and therefore don't even have to make sure I'm not doing it.

Things I hate:

Platform shoes

PLATFORM FLIP FLOPS

Logos for the sake of logos :yuk:

No fakes

No vertical stripes

Sometimes I do wear the same designer from head to toe, but I don't really wear logos and the stuff is usually mixed from different seasons... No-one without expert knowledge would ever be able to guess. Still, I can feel a bit self-conscious when I do it...

this is all much enlightening...

for me, i'd have to say

no acid washed jeans, EVER

no ultra tight jeans or ultra baggy or bell bottoms, EVER

i avoid wearing orange and other bright colors

no tight silk shirts

avoiding flashy logos....but i ahve to say i like designer wear more becasue its usually more comfortable and fits perfectly..

recently, i've been trying to venture into the fiftiees...or forties....do you think ki should???
Yes, quite a coincidence, I have been thinking about venturing intot he fifties. Did you ever get your pencil tash?

advice please - bought a pair of white leather flip flops yesterday with diamante circular bits on the 'thong' part that goes through the toes. My husband, whose opinion I respect a lot, thinks they are hideous. is diamante just really trashy (esp. with white leather)? I keep looking at them & finding myself confused as to whether they are actually nice or just plain disgusting. i think they might be ok with totally toned down classic clothes. i don't really do 'glamour' as a rule in the white leather & diamante sense (hence posting this here).

my advice is to put this in it's own topic so you get more responses...helena... ;)

hideous or not..i always found that if i knew that my boyfriend didn't like something...i would rarely ever wear it...unless i was absolutely sure...you don't sound so sure...

they sound like they would look cool if you dressed them down...like with a pair of jeans and a cute top...

no picture?... :innocent:

thanks Softgrey - two things

1. don't know how to move this now to its own topic;
2. don't have a digital camera to take a picture of them !! (although going to topshop website to see if there's a pic there of them)

I think they will be ok with really dress down stuff & maybe with longer skirts on holiday. they were such an impulse buy.

Actaully on my visit to topshop I saw a really nice top that i nearly bought - you might like it. It was a vest top with spaghetti straps, knitted, brown with light green/blue diagonal stripes with a faint silver thread through each blue stripe - with ruffle of the same fabric down the front. It s really nice & quite £££ looking for only £25. I might look on the webite to see if its there too.

i found them...i don't know what to say...they're ok...i don't hate them...the stitching looks kind of cheap to me...i guess i feel like you do...they're ok...but i don't love 'em...i like the white with the stones though...

i still think they'd be best with jeans... :flower: :ninja:

Did your husband actually see the flip flops on your feet or just in the store? Sometimes my boyfriend doesn't like some of my stuff when he sees them in the closet but when I'm actually wearing it he doesn't mind. For example: my ballerina flats. When we saw them in the store he was "meh" about them. But then I went on my own to purchase them and all the sudden he thinks I look cute when I wear them. Sometimes guys just can't picture certain pieces being worn or how they will look coordinated in an outfit. I'd try the sandals on with an outfit you'd normally would have worn with them and see what he thinks then.

Banana - unfortuntely he did see them on me - in the 'outfit' i thought would work best with them. He is actually annoying me intensly at the moment - he has just told me that i look like my little dog. Charming! Well it could be worse - my wee dog is really cute!

i'm thinking that i'll just have to resign the flip flops to the bad choice pile of my wardrobe. oh well - these things happen... i really ought to learn not to be tempted by impulse buys.

That ought to be one of my rules but just isn't - THOU OUGHT NOT TO BUY ON IMPULSE!!!!

It should be imprited on my brain.
