It's interesting. People do often ask me what scent I'm wearing but I wear it mainly for myself. I like what it smells like on me and I like catching the scent unexpectedly throughout the day. Even if no one else could smell it, I'd wear it for me.

this is my feeling about fragrance too. the right one makes me feel centered and calm. i love chyphre scents, orientals, vanilla, oakmoss, spices....

i was a fan of "coco" by chanel until i wore it on a very hot day, +100 degrees, and it just smelled *wrong*. i'm not sure why that happened. but there are going to be many days that hot or hotter around here, and i need to work that into the equation.

i recently went through all of my favorite perfumes and isolated the scents that come up most often, the ones i am drawn to over and over. i'm going to use this information to create my own signature scent.

i'm wearing clinique's "aromatic elixir" right now, and i love guerlain's "mitsouko". also, i tried DKNY's "be delicious" for *men* on in a department store and really liked it on me, more than the women;s version.;) go figure...

personally i stay away from fashion brands for fragrance- i can't bear the thought of my cologne being made in the same factory as toilet cleaner. creed and carthusia both make some classic fragrances- perfect to make ones signature scent. for this time of year my scent of choice is aria di capri, and for colder summer days something more musky such as numero uno.

It used to be Chanel No. 5, but now a days I also wear Molinards Musc y Fruit as well as Penhaligons Atemesia.

Hugo Boss - Hugo woman (for 6 yrs now)
Ralph Lauren - Polo Sport

Serge Luten's Ambre Sultan or L'artisan's Amber Extreme:) as well as Miller Harris' Tuberese

Anna Sui - Anna Sui

I love it, it fits me and I haven't gotten sick of it onvce in the six months I've used it so far. Also it's rare, you don't smell it often (at least not in my city) and because the fragrance is very unique it's just 'me'.

i need to sell a lot of the bottles i have laying around...

but for now my scents that i actually use are:
yohji edt
helmut lang cuiron
and cdg 2

i reallllly have always wanted to smell costume national scent and scent intense but i can never find it and never get around to finding a sample :(

no signature scent but definitely the light, citrusy ones. i can't stand strong / deep scents.

I'm 16 so I can really afford to have a rotation of purfumes :D
But my everyday scent is Perlissima by Cacharel and I also own Angel but I hadly ever use it because it is so strong. It is one of those purfumes that need time for it to settle before it becomes nice smelling.

I've been hunting for a scent that smells like pure vanilla for ages. Whenever I ask for help I'm directed to vanilla based purfumes...but nothing that smells truly vanillery...that really nice sweet but not overpowering smell. Mmmm. Suggestions anyone?

Chanel No. 19(extrait) is my default perfume. I also wear Jicky by Guerlain, Calandre by Paco Rabanne and Iris Poudre from the Frederic Malle collection.

I'm a perfume obsessive (   perfume & good incense) so I own quite a few but those are my current favorites.

For cold weather i'll still wear my No. 19 but I also like the much maligned Tabu(Dana), Bandit(Piguet), Rive Gauche Intense(YSL), Youth Dew(E. Lauder), Tabac Blond(Caron) and Bois des Iles(Chanel).

Littlestar - Have you tried any of Dawn Spencer Hurwitz' fragrances? She's really excellent and might have that true vanilla you're looking for. She's also great with samples and recommendations.

I just love it, it's become some what of a signature scent for me now. It reminds me of being back in London again, and strangely enough it really does smell like London to me.

My signature scent is Poison, which I've been wearing for about 18 years. I'd smelled it in magazines, then smelled it on someone else and went out and bought a huge bottle without trying it on because I was so sure it was for me! :o (I'd never do that now ...)

I also have to have a floral, usually gardenia (right now, Chanel Gardenia), and an oriental (currently on my second bottle of Alfred Sung Encore, which is no longer made).

Once I had a bottle of Poison that went off, and smelled even better! After that happened, people stopped me all the time to ask what it was.

What I wear depends on the weather, what I'm wearing, how I'm feeling, and what I need to do that day. In very hot weather I usually wear the floral. If I'm wearing autumn colors or animal prints, I pretty much have to wear an oriental fragrance. With girly skirt shapes, I usually wear floral. If I need to put my best foot forward, am going out at night, etc., I wear my signature fragrance. I was once scolded by someone that Poison should only be worn for formal evening occasions, but I wear it with anything, anytime I feel like it. Great for courage :)

Wow, Poison during the day, that is very bold of you Fashionistata! But you sound very elegant, I'm sure it suits you. Do you like Byzance? That is an elegant and mysterious scent too.

My signiature used to be Loulou par Cacharel, but they dont make it anymore... :( ...do they? I'm currently looking for something that could be my new signiature scent. I really want a gardenia scent as well. Is it true you can get the Chanel Gardenia only in Paris? Are there any other gardenia-like scents anybody recommends? I also love fruity-rosy scents.

Current rotation:

I adore Baby Doll by YSL. But the scent is so light it disappears quickly... :(

These days I wear plain rose oil from Bulgaria. So delicate and delightful...but disappears too. :(

I'd have to say my signature scent is Versace Woman, by Versace. That combined with the Vanilla shower gel from the Body Shop is such a heavenly scent. The touch of the Vanilla smell adds so much and it smells SO good.

But also I have other perfumes that I use for all sorts of different occasions, and I love them all so much! They are :

Hypnotic Poison by Dior
212 Sexy by Carolina Herrera
Amarige D'Amour by Givenchy

And then of course.. Versace Woman by Versace.
