Your Signature Scent

Wow, Poison during the day, that is very bold of you Fashionistata! But you sound very elegant, I'm sure it suits you. Do you like Byzance? That is an elegant and mysterious scent too.

My signiature used to be Loulou par Cacharel, but they dont make it anymore... :( ...do they? I'm currently looking for something that could be my new signiature scent. I really want a gardenia scent as well. Is it true you can get the Chanel Gardenia only in Paris? Are there any other gardenia-like scents anybody recommends? I also love fruity-rosy scents.

Current rotation:

I adore Baby Doll by YSL. But the scent is so light it disappears quickly... :(

These days I wear plain rose oil from Bulgaria. So delicate and delightful...but disappears too. :(

Well, bold, yes ... whether that's a good thing or no I must leave to others to judge ;) Nice thing about the scent is I never smell anyone else wearing it any more. I had to stop wearing it for a bit because I couldn't smell it anymore, but now it's back.

I just googled Loulou and found it for sale online ... you know, I think I had a bottle of that once, the packaging looks very familiar.

I got my Chanel Gardenia here ... it was presented as a limited edition, so I bought 2 or 3 bottles and am now on the last one. Then I read that it's been in production since 1922 or something, and couldn't figure what was limited about that. You may be right, maybe it's available fulltime only in Paris. Previously I've worn Annick Goutal's gardenia fragrance, and probably some others I'm forgetting. When I was little and would go shopping with my aunt, we'd always try on Jungle Gardenia. I don't know why, because she never wore a gardenia fragrance. Maybe it was my idea. I was just thinking the other day how odd it was for her and my mother to wear Youth Dew when they actually were young :D Anyway, I remember one time we overdid it, we smelled like a huge gardenia bush--we were taking public transportation and I remember us giggling because we thought we were a public nuisance :D

Other gardenia fragrances I'm going to try next are Michael Kors' and Kate Spade's. The Kate Spade store always smells delicious ...

i haven't found my signature scent yet, so i use several fragrances i like. so the scent is more part of my outfit. sometimes i think it very practical, you can tone down a somewhat masculine outfit with a romantic fragrance or a nostalgic outfit with a clean modern fragrance, or you can give a minimalist outfit an edge with some distinctive fragrance, etc. most times i try to consider the scent when pulling together an outfit.

(oh, and i'm wearing a gardenia fragrance right now. i like that smell too, fashionista-ta, i even got a plant in my apartment. (*remember* *speedingtothewatertap* ) i'm glad to see not everybody thinks of it as a "mom's" frangrance.)

but i wish i would finally find a fragrance that is perfectly me.. :ermm:

 That is adorable!!! And youth wearing Youth Dew...haha! I love how scents evoke the oddest memories...specially about aunts, somehow.

Thank you so much for checking out Loulou and all the gardenia recommendations, I will definitely go check them out! :flower:

No, Northernsky, not a "Mom fragrance"...although not for kid kids either...it is quite ladylike. I just go straight to heaven standing in front of a gardenia bush, I remember when I was small I used to stand in front of them and vow to smell like that when I grow up. ^_^

I've been using mainly Jo Malone's Orange Blossoms for sometime now. People say when they smell the cologne, "It's so you!", which I take as a good thing.

Can anybody recommend me a good ole sweet/candy/vanilla like scent? I've had Miss Dior Cherie in heavy rotation, along with Pure Poison and Angel...am in search of something new.

The Body Shop Vanilla body spray is positively vanillacious. I've only recently come to appreicate perfumes, and now i'm addicted. So far my collection consist of Narcisse Chloe, Clinque happy and Simply and Babydoll YSL. I'm still experimenting, I would like to try a fresher scent, but one that won't fade easily, a youthful aura but not any trendy teenage girl type. Hmm, something in line with babydoll (but more unknown) and j'dore?

That's cute ;) Speaking of bushes and childhood, it would be great to smell like a lilac bush on certain spring days. They don't really grow here in the South, but I grew up with them ... they were planted the full length of my elementary school's playground, and we had them at home too. When they bloomed it was so wonderful :flower:

Is there lilac perfume??

Let us know what you find as far as gardenia ... I'm not actually loving the Chanel these days, just finishing the bottle. I think the Annick Goutal was much better. But I want to try the ones I mentioned. I think Kate Spade is all white flowers, maybe orchid? When I was very young I wore Muguet du bois (lily of the valley). OK, here are Kate Spade's notes: neroli, black currant leaves, jasmine petals, white honeysuckle, gardenia, jasmine, tuberose, muguet. (No orchid! I'm remembering that from something else ...)

It seems like there is jasmine in many of the perfumes I like ...

TF,

Anne Pliska(A. Pliska) & Sacrebleu(Parfums de Nicolai) are sweet, appealing, & candy-like. Organza Indecence is sort of sweet
& gourmand but with more ambery(cinnamon & wood too) notes.

^_^

Anna Sui - Sui Dreams
Carolina Herrera - Sexy

Dolce and Gabanna - Light Blue
Cacharel - Promesse

Both amazing, nothing but good things for both of them!

I have many perfumes,

Sake for day
just got Kielh's original musk:heart:

But when I want to impress or have an occasion its Aqua Di Parma

for day: Tommy Hilfiger True Star Gold, Escada Pacific Rockin Rio...
Body shop has great fragrances too. Classic and simple, but distinctive too.

for night: Elizabeth Arden - After Five

Recently, someone gave me a recipe to make my own perfume. Which is great for a signature scent that's entirely yours... I'll post it later.

Perfume Recipe

Perfumes are concentrated fragrances. Their scent will last a long time. Simply add 1 teaspoon of fragrance oil (any fragrance) to 1/4 cup 100-proof vodka. Shake well.

If you want to mix 2 types of fragrance oil, you should double the amount of vodka. and so on...

I've tried it before, its great. I used strawberry and patchouli oil.
