Your Signature Scent

I've been thinking about choosing a scent for each new season (spring and fall), but I find them sooo hard to shop for that I'm not sure it's a good idea

^Lists of seasonal perfume favorites are done by various perfume blogs, namely Now Smell This, Bois de Jasmin, Perfume Posse, and Perfume Smellin' Things. In my opinion, spring/summer scents are appropriate year-round (except some are so light, they don't register in cold weather). On the other hand, some fall/winter or "evening" scents are much too overbearing in warm weather. Imagine the scent of Angel on a cold, crisp day. Yum. Now imagine smelling it on a hot, humid day...no, thank you. The original Poison might have this problem too.

^ Since I love it, I think Poison's perfect for a sultry New Orleans night--especially since it's the kind of place with lots of not so pleasant smells to mask ;)

It's true that more delicate scents can't really bloom in cold weather, unless perhaps you're sitting on the radiator :p Light citrus or floral scents can be really lovely, but I hate that they're so fleeting ... I like a scent that will hang around with me ...

You should wear what you love. I wholeheartedly agree with that. Assuming you don't pour the stuff over yourself with reckless abandon.:p By fleeting, do you mean that you prefer a perfume that has more complexity? There are floral and citrus scents that fit the bill, but better yet, you can try to layer fragrances. Sephora makes free perfume samples in the USA, it's a good way to experiment.

for the last days of cold (hopefully)

Day: Latitude|Longtitude/Kouros/Eau Parfumée au thé vert

Night: Blu Notte pour homme/Black Orchid

girls always say i smell fantastic  and guys always ask me what i'm wearing but since i'm layering to often, i can never really tell

One squirt only, pretty much ;)

Sometimes I think a lot of scents are too complex, because I like the main note, but not all the other junk that gets added on :innocent: For example, I love gardenia, but can't stand most gardenia scents. Complexity's good if I like all the notes ;) I am picky picky :innocent:

I just mean that I think a scent should stay with you all day and all night, ideally ... I like a scent that keeps unfolding. I have Fresh Hesperides, but (like some of their other scents) it lasts probably an hour at most. On the hottest days I suppose that's not such a bad thing ... but some genius should invent a light scent with staying power ... preferably with no weird nanobots in it :p

PS Are you saying there are non-free perfume samples where you are?

I used to alternate between a few but for the last couple of years it's been FlowerBomb by VIKTOR & ROLF

I either wear a vanilla scent by the bodyshop, armani senzi or Princess by Vera Wang.

lol i've changed my mind coz Cabochard by Gres is so captivating and phenomenal that i can't resist it :D

I have 4, but I usually do 2 at a time.

Moschino Cheap & Chic I Love Love with Moschino Cheap & Chic Hippy Fizz

or

Escada Moon Sparkle with Paris Hilton Heiress (Don't judge, it smells so clean and wonderful) :p

my personal favorites are

coco chanel mademoiselle (eau de parfum)
daisy by marc jacobs
and flowerbomb by V&R (eau de parfum)

i'm not so much into perfumes. But I do love to wear johnson & johnson baby lotion or their baby cologne. the scent of each is so long lasting. love it because it's very soft and fresh.

Marc Jacobs Grass (doesn't smell like grass at all, just lovely. I bought it for $25 at TJ Maxx and now it's my all-time favorite perfume)
Prada (when I want something a little heavier)

^ I like Prada too, but for some reason on me, it just screamed patchouli :innocent: So I have to be content to let others wear it.

My first bf loved perfume so I have a bunch but I rarely wear it. I like just a faint scent and not have it be very obvious but when I put it on it smells a lot but then quickly either goes away or I get used to it so I can never tell. If I do wear it I usually go for gucci ii. I remember my bf loved one tiffanys and I got compliments when I wore it but I though it kind of smelled like dentures.

^ GG, LOL at dentures!

^^ The suggestion of patchouli is why I like the Prada. But I agree, I'd want to avoid full-on patchouli. Too redolent of college. (And the Anthropology instructor down the hall.)

Serge Lutens Daim Blond my favorite now!!!
Also I love Stella by Stella McCartney, Chloe and Kelly Caleche Hermes

I like Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Black Amethyst from the body shop, and the Cashmere scent from Bath and Body works. I also love Betsy Johnson.
