Alexander McQueen Resort 2014

Whaaaat? Sarah finally stopped watching those period movies? The clothes were amazing, but there are only so many Elizabethan/renaissance-inspired collections one could endure.
This collection is a bright step on the right direction. It's so fresh, and a lot younger than her recent offerings. Wouldn't be a Burton collection with the trademark focus on the waistline, and she incorporated it so lovely here.

Only con is that last look, she looks like a milkmaid meets a couch :ninja:

The first half doesn't look even remotely McQueen, to me.

However, I do really love the denim patchwork, the floral patchwork and the crochet patchwork. They're fantastic looks with so much depth! So much to look at in the HQ pictures! I love that.

I really don't care much for the bags or the shoes, either - all reads very "streetstyle" to me. Bleh. I wish all those patchwork looks had been expanded upon and become the basis of the collection.

Also - I wish that this more realistic look that Sarah always shows in her Pre-Fall and Resort collections would make it's way to the runway instead of her over styled, over designed, over worked and over sized collections she shows for Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. Those over-blown spectacles are both gaudy and irrelevant.

While I appreciate the fact she tried to do something a bit different, she went on the wrong direction. The first half is nice, but it's too Chloé-ish, nothing really McQueen besides the shaped silhouette. And that patchwork part is just... too much going.

This doesn't even remotely look like McQueen. The first part is very trendy and, as someone els said, very Chloé. I sort of miss the usual dramatic factor that I always associate with McQueen.

She changed silhouettes and textures for once, which I am happy about, but unfortunately the majority is still very ugly.

I must agree that some looks doesn't look very "McQueen-ish" but everyone has been asking her to change her influence and the silhouettes so I'm happy that she finally did. This is something new for the brand , and I appreciate and like what she did, I just wish it was so breath-taking as her last menswear collection

oh boy, what is going on here? i can't pick the vilest outfit. or the least hideous. i'm not even sure what i'm looking at here. especially those denim patchwork monstruosities. or the weird unflattering shapes and volumes of the first looks.

did she try something new at last? yes. but considering the results, im not sure it was a good move.

Definitely not McQueenesque.

But I think there are a few nice looks here nevertheless - the first 2 in the second row, with those tailored jackets, maybe some of the patchwork.

However, I do see the Chloe references, which are ... totally .... weird.

The last look reminds me of Valentino. The rest I quite like it, seeing some changes is good.

You wanted more restrained, commercial, wearable McQueen and here you go. I love the final dresses, less so the rest.

this right here is A grade UGLY, served cafeteria style with cream corn and dirty silverware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
