Me too, I love it when designers use beads or sequins for men I love the jet beaded black blazer....so cool.

and you knwo it dosn't come across to femminin, it seems strong but romantic.

The blue jacket is cool, but I don't think this collection is very strong overall.
2200 seems like a bit of overpricing to me.

i doubt its 2200. its hard to tell from the pics but it looks like its a short haired cotton. i woul dbe pretty disappointed if it was over 2k

well a similar grey coat from F/W 2004-05 costs $2165...

I'm not seeing what's so special about the blue coat. It's nice, but it ain't that nice.

Yeah, I mean honestly the only reason I like it is the color, but it wasn't one of my favorite looks from the collection.

I think McQueen is the best show in Milan!!!!

And this is the one I like most!!!

From the Independent online:

Alexander McQueen rocked Milan with a glamorously avant-garde menswear collection last night. Taking inspiration from two films La Haine and La Reine Margot McQueen showed fashion as gang warfare with violent ghetto street sport versus bloodthirsty Renaissance aristocrats.
Slouchy skater-cut trousers and fox-trimmed parkas followed frock coats and matching trousers in overstitched claret velvet. A silver lamé suit fought it out with gold and bronze sequin tunics.

I'm already on the list for the metallic sweaters.
ahhh...thank you for this...now it makes sense...this answers johnny's issue of incoherence...i agree that you see the bernard wilhem hipster aesthetic with all the hoodies and the puffers and the shine...but then there is also the very sharp tailoring and mourning coats...now that is all explained...that was the whole point apparently...it's meant to show both sides...

i do agree with mcqueen that two camps are beginning to appear in menswear...and i find this an interesting exploration for a designer...v. cool imo...well done LEE... :flower:

my favourite is when he combines the two...as in this jacket...using the foil and abstract pattern the is reminiscent of wilhem on a very tailored coat...
nice work...plus this would photograph beautifully..i predict we will see this piece in some good editorials...

the outfits are really cool!!...but what's  with the make up? haha...

Excellent point, Space :flower:

BTW, people, noone is raving about the blue jacket as the center piece of the collection. Ed simply pointed out that he liked the cut and not the color, and I pointed on the color, and it snowballed from there.

Now that purple coat Ngth pointed out, that's another story. YUM!!! :woot:

P.S. Now I know what AF is!

Thanks Faust:-) I think the coat is black:-)

The details are amazing. The shiny part of the jkt is actually "lines and lines of thin pipes", it looks like a electronic board, if you know what I mean:-)

Yikes......but then again, I never fawned over McQueen and his designs.....people seem to get excited over the most basic, mundane stuff from him....I know there is a dearth of talented designers, but this collection doesn't help him become the annoited one everyone seems to think he is....his attention to detail and focus on the little things is great, but it never comes together for a complete, coherent look....its so fractured...:(

theory...there is a school of thought that a collection need not be about a fashion show...but about a strong group of clothing that will sell...
with this collection mcqueen reaches out to two absolutely different customers and draws them in...doubling potential sales...

the fashion show is only 15 minutes of flash...the pieces that sell are what really count...

the whole idea of selling a lifestyle is becoming rather old fashioned...people aren't loyal to one designer anymore (hardly anyone wears head to toe one designer...it's not considered cool or stylish)...people pick and choose pieces...so from a marketing standpoint...it's best to give them a bunch of options so more people are likely to find something they like...and BUY IT>>>

grey, I'd wear that look you posted as is, I love the shine of the silver with the elegance of the ivory.

Now that I see the back of the beaded thing I'm even more in !!!!

I'm so knocking off that quilted looking jacket.

im gonna make a piece to wear like on the first jacket, except it wont be attached to anything, it will be just like straps of a backpack and beaded ;) its gonna be hot!

ps. does anyone know how he makes that quilted effect? is it just lines of stitching>?

Haha, I have just realized that this bead band imitates a gun-holder :-P
