Alice Temperley for Target

I just did an article about the Go International campaign for my student newspaper. I am really liking this collection. I hope it looks as good in person as it does in the pictures.

I always want it to be good, but I'm always disapointed. It's ugly and the quality is really awful. Of course, the quality will be. It's target, but some of the things are $40, and I know I can find something at another store for $40 that is considerably better quality. It's just cheap, and I hate cheap b/c it means terrible quality. Eh.

Perhaps the collaborations would be more successful if designers looked at the opportunity to address apects of design that have to get overlooked at higher price points where the emphasis is on luxury. It seems the more inexpensive materials don't get respected for what they are, they're simply used to downgrade existing design elements and that's where it goes wrong. A very witty and approachable take on Temperly's feminine detailing, embroidery and embellishment could be successful but its a thin line. That being said, I think there is something wrong, somewhere, when a designer can't problem solve. A designer should be able to dress people at all levels; their skill set, training, experience, critical eye should allow them such versatility. To complain against high street copying only to copy your own designs for mass market retailers is unfortunate.

Exactly!

I love this collection online, I hope I like it in person. Seriously designer clothing price points have become ridiculous for the quality that you get. I have some high-end designer pieces and I've tried plenty one - they just aren't all that people. Even if the quality is somewhat better the prices are out of whack and frankly many designer items look dated after a season or two. Designer clothing used to be much more accessible, that's why ordinary working professionals would buy it.

Sure the Target stuff is often too low quality for the design, but its not that the designer stuff is so great either. The only Target line I've bought from so far is Libertine and I've already gotten compliments. The scarfs and the tanks are really cute and while the jacket with the raven didn't suit my body type, one of my best friends has it and it looks fabulous on her.

What I love about this line is its simple with quirky details, very in the moment, and some of the pieces would work for my job.

i'm looking forward to this. i really want that long-sleeved black dress! what i like are that the designs seem more sophisticated than usual for GO -- i think women of more ages will be able to wear it. i think between this and the vera wang line for kohl's, i may kind of implode from having to decide what to buy!

the wool melton cropped jacket comes in ivory, electric blue and black methinks.

and according to the press release "The collection ranges in price from $14.99–$139.99"

maybe there is a leather jacket. if so...

i am also happy i can wear some of this stuff to work.

I love the grey sweater. Now I have to find a Kohl's for Vera Wang and a Target for Temperley and both in the same week I think.

I love that jacket! I'm hoping that it works for me. Its so cute!

looks very cute, but the pics are so small...

You can get the images in HQ by going here, then:

1. Click the image you want in a larger size.
2. When the new screen pops up, press "Download."
3. You should be redirected to a new page with instructions and a link. If you're using a PC, right click on the link and choose "Save Link as." You will then have the HQ image saved to your computer.

Hope this helps!

The cutest hat

She did this adorable Johnny Depp when he was with Kate -esque slouchy hat, and it's cheap! I saw it in a LUCKY editorial for September. I think it'll be good, but I wonder what materials she'll use. Temperley London's signature are the vivid colors and gorgeous materials.

I'll be there stopping at target! ;) Does anyone know if it's shipping to only certain areas first? I'll be in San Diego instead on new york when it comes out...

when is this supposedly hitting stores? my store already is moving the libertine stuff to the sale rack and replacing the "GO" area with missimo stuff...they didn't even get the last batch of libertine items in :(

i love the collection! (at least online) -- you know, i don't get wrapped up in who the designer is though, and i think that's the key to enjoying it.

i don't think of these as designer clothes, just 'clothes from target'...i would never tell someone that i was wearing temperley, just that i got a cute dress at target!

it's a cool idea to bring in high-design, but as someone said earlier, it's not like any of these designers seem to be really flexing their design brains/craft to use inexpensive materials + processes in an interesting way...

Mossimo has taken over the Libertine section in my local Targets as well!

doesn't it suck!?! i mean, i'd still prefer to see picked through libertine instead of mossimo ;)
