Exactly! I can't fathom why people believe "haute couture" means unwearable poofy stiff dresses that no one would wear unless they were mannequins in a museum.
You're so on target about Couture. Back in the day, woman had all of there clothes done by couturier's. Day wear, afternoon, gardening outfits, cocktail and evening done my a couturier. So they have to be wearable and easy to put on. Even though on the inside the dresses are complicated as ever. Gloria Guinness use to have Balenciaga design actual gardening dresses with hats for her. So when she gardened. She was totally in Balenciaga.
