Hey guys, I'm starting a new collection, what do you think of the theme "park avenue chic"?

i think we should all design one big collection...
like pick one word and make our collection those words! fun

anyway
maimon i like that first sketch-the coat? sweater?-not sure what it is but i like the shapes on top

fashionfied
the first one is a little hard to make out so i think the second looks much more cleaner there for its easier to see

its a ballon-dress actually but glad you like it:flower:

i have been waiting for you to get on msn
cuz i lost the link lol

ill PM you to save space

maimon let me say that your drawings are the most interesting, pretty, coherent and ready to wear that i have seen in the post. They are less creative than other ones but you can take a concept and make 8 dresses with the same concept, and they do not look boring! Your style is closed to Sophia Kokolasaki or Stella. If they are your first designs i think you could become a great designer. But i hope you have more new and fresh ideas.

hey so i drew some designs to accompany the shoes!!
Futuristic002.jpg

ok..let me explain all the details
the lines your see are kevlar, i want to make this collection a mixture of hard futuristic fabrics and soft fabrics. so the lines are Kevlar and the strap things are what i call floating button straps, to give you that exact fit. i guess it can be better explained from different angles but basically they hang freely (like in the pictured they are not buttoned) but if you wanted to tighten the jacket just pull them closer and snap them. the top part of the jacket is patent leather and the piece in the middle is silk. the pants are made of neoprene and silk or patent leather piping.
whoo...lol im tired lol...on to the next

Futuristic004.jpg

the left~
a kevlar corset paired with a chiffon and silk? i think its called a ballerina dress?

the right~
kevlar+silk jacket
neoprene pants

Futuristic005.jpg

left-im not exactly sure what that is lol

right-jacket=patent,silk,kev
pants=neoprene and kevlar

Futuristic001.jpg

jacket-kevlar with a molded silk (think balenciaga like cut jackets) top
pants-neoprene with kevlar detailing at bottom

also heres a whole page scan of the shoes + 3 new ones
Futuristic006.jpg

now i can explain in detail about the shoe ideas and inspirations lol

for the shoes i drew inspiration from mech animes, movies, and computers, (gundam ghost in a shell TRON Z.O.E)
those are some of the names that appear on the bottom of the shoes, and you can clearly see the resemblance to some of the shoes. anyway, i wanted to make some really cool shoes for the nerds in some people who would be able to identify the inspirations and to show that watching cartoons for ideas can be done! so the shoes that have computer parts will most likely include some, example, third row 4th shoe will have computer wires under the patent, and the z.o.e heel will look like the z.o.e mech in the pic above just without the lights instead replaced with like patent and metal and plastic. idk how everyday these shoes are but i think people shouldn't feel like they have to wear their shoes for occasions, if you like them or think they look cool (or want to show em off to people and get comments) wear em!
also you guys may be wondering where the zippers and stuff are. for this i wanted to do something different and have incredibly well hidden zippers or have magnetic shapes sewn into the fabric to make it easier ever to put on the jackets and the pants are neoprene so you can just slide into them lol.
seamlessness is what this is all about!!

WHOO...i feel like that was the longest post ever lol....
hopefully you guys will read it and find it interesting lol

Devon, your designs are great!
One thing I see with a lot of newer designers is that they don't really have a point of view or style when they start out but that is definitely not the case with your stuff. You have a very clear point of view. I am especially drawn to the fact that you are inspired by video games, manga, etc because that is what inspires the majority of my work. I thought I was a nerd for being inspired by video games haha!

Anywho, keep up the amazing work! Have you gotten to construct anything or do you plan to go to fashion school?

thx so much!
lol i am glad you know what my point of view is lol because i don't....
i like to use videogames as inspiration because i think videogames come up with the best ideas. for example, idk if you have ever played or seen the art for aeons in final fantasy X but the aeon designs are beautiful and can inspire so much.

Well not so much point of view, I suppose I was trying to say you have a coherent design aesthetic even though you have used multiple themes.

Oh yes, Final Fantasy (especially anything by Tetsuya Nomura) is where I get a lot of my inspiration. Also Okami was infinitely inspiring. Japanese character designers for RPGs or whatever usually blow my mind.

You have probably already seen these but in case you haven't here are two galleries that are great to look through.

http://www.creativeuncut.com - Video Game Art

http://gallery.digik.net - All kinds of Art Book Scans! I cannot STRESS how much you should look through this site. There is INFINITE inspiration there. ( Even though you kinda have to sort through a lot of generic anime art. Think of it as a thrift store, a lot of gems but even more garbage haha )
