Balenciaga F/W 07.08 Paris

I love it.
Not neccisarily all of it though, some of it wouldn't translate well to real life (the blue leggings, although in the collection they're ok), but taking some of it apart, the pieces are beautiful!

i fell in love with balenciaga in the ss06 show, just amazing!! but ever since then its just been OK to me ...and now this ...just ehhh- anyone else feel the same way ?

Well, I don't think anything will beat S/S 06, that show was just magic!:magic:

styling is a bit odd... but i'm sure the pieces are great! i still believe it will be a great collection!

Wow, this is different. :ninja: I'm not sure if I'll like it (although we all know all the magazines will do their best) but some pieces are very, very wearable. I'm just not used to see Balenciaga like this.

i actually like this collection, it's definately unexpected and i'm not doing backflips, but i'll surely invest time in seeing the whole thing!!

i never understood the hype .. not two seasons ago, not last season, and certainly not this season.

the styling is awful.way to busy and distracting to me.. I dont understand the bright blue tights with tan pee toe boots...

the styling, the putting together or outfits defiantely could be better
the clothes, individually, are decent, but i am kind of disappointed. i love some pieces though

The styling is too "busy" for me, but there are some really lovely pieces. I love all the blazers/jackets, and some of the mini-dresses are so wearable! The collection was kind of unexpected, what with the weird patterns, but I like it!

I'm trying to like this- I really am!

but I can't the colors are to loud, the prints are to cbold- it's jsut too much.

this coat is nice

some of the blazers are ok- but overall- it's just too much pattern and color, and what's with these pants?!

jodhpurs?! is there a single person on earth who can look good in thse? it's small at the ankle and billowy at the top! how many women want pants that give the illusion of broad, full hips?

I can see the connection in some of the dresses with prints he has tried before and shapes/ cuts he has tried before, but by fucusing on all these prints, I think he has taken away from developing cuts and shapes which is to me what the rband is all about.

also all the pants looks with the little jactes seem to give off a very casual sporty, kind of school vibe, and I think it lacks the sophistication that is a tradematk of balgenciaga.

(and yes I Know I can't spell, sorry)

My sole most anticipated collection of the season--certainly not what I was expecting at all, but I'm not disappointed. These pieces are definitely more wearable than last season, which was strictly editorial-only. I'm anxious to see details of the shoes, if any.

actually with the runway theatrics removed, some of last season's jackets and coats were very sharp, the shirts were sleek, and the pants were to die for (if you have the legs for them)

this seaosn is not AS wearable in my opinion

I'm slightly surprised at how strong of a link this has with last season's collection. I had been trying to get into his head and was surprised by this. My only complaint is that this presentation is overtly commericial, similar to last season in that regard. You can see all the accessory and product placement dripping from the model's bodies.

But beyond that, this is pure Nicholas Ghesquire. For those that say this isn't Balenciaga, what is? Have you seen the collections Nicholas Ghesquire had done for the house (excluding SS 06 and AW 06-07)? This is a return to form, this is what he had been doing for years, maybe with a braver use of color.

He's employing the repetoire of techniques he's developed over the years, the painfully oranate draping, pathworks of prints and textures, and otherworldly tailoring. This is nothing new for Ghesquire. Although I was expected to be dazzled, I must say this is a well done collection with lots of covetable garments. But one has to wonder how in tune these muddy and overstyled looks are with the world when you have Simons over at Jil Sander who's essentially suggesting the opposite.

Yes, this is true Ghesquiere! I felt that the last seasons were so odd and contrived, it's good to see him returning to that assymetrical, slouchy, masculine style.

Yes, S/S 06 was pure perfection! But I also admire him for his previous collections, so this isn't too shocking to me. :)

And to be honest...I'm really quite surprised by all the "this is so not Balenciaga" comments. (...and fugly C3P-0s' were?) To me, every single piece SCREAMS Ghesquiere (a lot also reminds me of Balenciaga mens, too). And...Ghesquiere IS Balenciaga now. Same with Galliano is now Dior, Tischi is now Givenchy, Lagerfeld is now Chanel, and Pilati is now YSL. Sure designer working at old houses should have some element of respect for the founder, but I really disagree with the idea that they need to live in the shadow's of their house's original designer.

So many of these looks from this FW 07 are classic Ghesquiere (here are some previous season outfits that feel very similar to this season's)-
