^ if you mean the date code ie. 02-05-53 then the real bags and the fake bags both have that code. It is located inside the zip pocket in the bag.

I'll try posting pics once I get my digital cam up and running.. kinda having technical difficulties with my new cam..roey said:Would any of you with this problem peeling mind posting pictures of your bags? I would like to see what's going on and perhaps others too? I do what Klow suggested by placing the leather piece on one end of the zipper in between and it works great. I never zip my bags anyway, and the weight of the padlock keeps it closed.

i_love_chloe said:^^ thanks roey! I meant to ask: have you taken your bag out since protecting it, and when it gets wet, does it still show the grey marks? I was considering using Vaseline on the dirt marks as they don't seem to be ground in but I think oil-based products erode the leather over time. But at it's at the back the marks don't bother me.
On the subject of fakes, it's amazing how quick you can identify one if you've got the real thing. That's one thing I love about the paddys - you can't really replicate the look of the leather.
edit: ok, you've answered my question, thanks!

After comparing the bet the real vs the fake, I must say they've made every attempt to copy the paddingtons. For one thing, the authenticity/care cards are similar BUT the real one says "Made in Italie" as opposed to "Made in Italy". The real one has care instructions in Japanese..the fake one doesnt have it. The fake bag also has a serial number located inside the zipper pocket BUT, it is labeled UPSIDE down (facing into the bag). The real one faces away from the bag. The hardware on the fake bag is GOLD unlike the real paddington that is "matte, antique/brass-like". The leather on the fake bag is thin, smooth and is not as wrinkly/thick/buttery.
The fake key is shorter at the tip and not well-coated in gold. There are other smaller differences too.
We took some pictures to compare it side by side and once I figure out how to post it, I'll show it. It's one thing that a person KNOWS that she's purchasing a fake bag. But it's also another thing when consumers are LIED to and are unknowingly suckered into buying a cheap fake for the price of a real bag. There's no way you can virtually buy a real bag online for under $1395. These bags are way too hot to go for less. I imagine if you're paying for even at $800... it may be fake.
Another thing regarding the real paddingtons: Today was my first day wearing my bag and what disturbed me was that the brass hardware was starting to scratch off (while the lock is attached to the ring hardware...) >_<. I'm kind of discouraged at buying this bag since there are so many fakes and the quality is not so great.
