i find myself watching the show over and over again, the scarabs are great! i think this is the best couture collection so far!

I agree, it is the best so far.... everything was so extravagant, so intricately detailed and so gorgeous...

I love those scarabs too!!

The hair, makeup, and the 50's look that permeated the show was clearly influenced by Avedon's fashion portraits of the same decade. See also Irving Penn's images of his then wife Lisa Fonssagrives. You can see the inspiration.

Over in the "Style Star" forum there's a thread about celebs at the shows. SJP is in a pic at the Dior show and she's wearing something poofy but with short-sleeves. In the vid, does the extended arm look like hers? I can't tell after seeing it thrice.

However, having seen this thrice, I must once again comment on how awesome this collection is.

My two favorite moments are the "whistle" sample from "Walk Like an Egyptian" just a few seconds worth, and right at the end how on cue the vocal comes in and there's John striking a pose. Anyone know if Jeremy Healy did the music for this again?

i thought the same!! the bangles moment was a great touch! and the uplifting/gospel like vocals was perfect for john's walk. i have no idea if it was jeremy healy or not but i would love to know

as for the arm ..... i think i saw a photo of the woman wearing that specific dior top and it wasnt sjp......but now im curious

The Penn connection makes a bit more sense. Especially the last photo you attached.
This show was wonderful, clothing was sensational, works of art....but for me, it was a bit too literal.

John Galliano is making a mockery out of the legendary house of Dior. To be honest I wouldn't mind this at all as long as he did it under his own label.

I agree 100%.

I personally believe that no one can showcase extravagant couture like someone with bronze skin. Maybe Eugenia can pull it off yeah but forget Carmen Kass & Gisele or Fernanda. Now Michelle Alves (she's in Lacroix)... maybe.

Ujjwala or Yasmin Warsame would be great in the campaign for Dior. Liya, Ujjwala, Yasmin, and Ai can all do like an Egyptian Courtesan theme.

It would be a blast!
