Christian Dior Haute Couture S/S 2011 Paris

Beautiful but I am a little tired
of Dior Couture shows
so predictable, same shapes, same make up...

When is he going to give us
a crazy and excepcional show?

Like that ones he use to made so good

It the same old sh!t, but revamped and better-looking. I love it, but it's exactly the same shapes from about five seasons back.
Looks like the genie has been trapped inside the bottle.

It really is divine. To me it's like gorgeous French couture mixed with a little '50s American glamorous style. I like it a lot!

The shoes are good, the headpieces are great, Magda's entire look is AMAZING, and I'm happy to see Joan there but, uh, really, John? I can deal with repetitive themes to an extent, but like everyone else has said, this is a rehash. Not even just a rehash of color palette and silhouette in the designs, but I feel like I have seen the EXACT SAME hair and make up in every Dior HC show I've ever cared enough to watch. There is a difference between consistency in style and stagnation and I'm thinking he is leaning heavy toward the latter.

I don't love it, but I like it. It's very Dior, nothing new, but still a good HC colletion. The shoes are gorgeous.
This is my favourite look. It's an amazing dress imo.

This collection is a merely a tweak of the last several seasons. I too like this dress most.

LOL at the people at the beginning stating "Dior HC never disappoints"

Does Galliano has his hands tied or something...?
I have learned my lesson with Galliano and promised myself I wouldn't even bother with this collection but somehow, I had the hope that maybe, just maybe a stint of what he used to be would come around. But hey, don't we all? :/

Can't they even work a different make-up? At least?!

Meh, this is too stale for even bother to take a second look at it. Having said that, this look is something:

Liked the inclusion of feathers this time. This dress speaks to me

It's very beautiful, but I agree, we've basically seen all of this before.

Could they not have found better music either ? I can only see PAP now.

You say you've learned your lesson, but here you sit looking at the collection?! Not understanding your point entirely.

- I think one element of Galliano that is extremely valuable is CONSISTENCY. While other designers have good & bad season's from time to time- Galliano is always presenting something beautiful. Though, in some ways, he is almost rested in greatness; that doesn't make his work any less great or any less valuable. He has established a credible signature with Dior & for that, Galliano is a living legend. The Dior show doesn't dissapoint, but it also depends on what you define as dissapointment. It also depends on what you define as redundant.

All that aside, no discussion needed;
what is presented here, this season, is beautiful.
That's it- it's that simple.

Im In a dream I love this collection best one I've seen from Dior in a while I love every dress

Spike, I think you're right about the reference, I see a lot of Gruau there, especially in Karlie's opening coat.

That beeing said, isn't it fascinanting how Galliano manages to find a different inspiration every season and then manages to turn it into the exact same thing?

There is a thin line between beauty and kitsch, and even though I am someone who loves a pretty pastel and an embroidered flower dearly, the lack of any irony, modern touch or anything I haven't seen a thousand times before on this exact runway, turns this into the most gruesome kitsch for me. The soft pinkness of Daphne's dress or the incredible minty green sack, there is nothing beautiful there, because I feel like there is nothing authenticy there.

If this is all Mr Galliano can come up with, after putting all of his heart and soul into a couture collection which needs not only to be perfect in terms of seams and fabric, but of design, then I'm sorry for him. But as I have seen ravishing things from him, I cannot help but to suspect he simply doesn't care anymore. And that's not very authentic.

I'm speechless. The whole collection is amazing, gorgeous, awesome!!

It's definitely beautiful, but beauty has never been a weakness for Galliano, he's always able to produce something pleasant and sophisticated. But this is so trivial for him. The whole collection looks simply like a more complex version of his RTW.

Aesthetically, this is great, but that's as far as this collection goes.

Thanks for HQs.
