Hello last collection with the scarab beatles, so unwearable. I really like this influence, VW or not.
sure, the jewel-encrusted scarab breastplates and humongo gigantic scarab chandelier earrings were unwearable.....but the clothing was gorgeous

Hello...it's couture...how many people on here actually buy it? I'm gonna go out on the limb and say nobody, so why are so many people concentrating on its wearability? Let the couture customers worry about that :ermm:
Thank you!!!!!! :flower: :flower:

I'm inclined to agree that dear John seems heavily "inspired" by VW... But he's such a big name that he's practically untouchable.

Remember the Balenciaga debacle a few seasons ago? He certainly didn't get off lightly.

i don't.
what happened?

Are you referring to when he 'stole' some ideas for his Spring 2002 collection...I think it was that collection
I think so, yes... Kaisik Wong was the designer. You'll find a mention of it here: http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/index...=0?entry121973
ah yes :flower:
i remember those patchwork pieces now :ninja:

...yikes

Galliano at his best at Dior

hahahha....IMO....galliano doing his best impersonatioin of vivienne westwood....

but tott's right...never a dull moment...i'm sure that everyone in the audience was thoroughly entertained...if not so impressed... :P

galliano certainly knows how to do
DRAMA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
I really really don't see any resemblence to that VW collection...ok so the inspiration was the same, but the outfits are SO different....they can't be compared...(now don't start saying there was now inspring but only copywork...we've heard that now :P)
you see NO RESEMBLANCE???>>> here...why don't you borrow my glasses then... B) ;)

 ...honestly...i like the blue dresses and the ones that are more identifiably galliano...more original..but the entire theme of the show is a direct rip-off...

i excpect more from mr galliano...and i think that as lena pointed out...it is a bit odd to have a british themed show for a FRENCH COUTURE HOUSE>>>!!! :woot:

i miss these days....as a WOMAN>>>!!!!!...i prefer clothes like this... :innocent:

ok fine.........so far we've discovered

- the couture at dior DOES apparently make profit

- customers can decide exactly how their dress will look when finished

- the publicity from the couture show boosts the RTW and accesories sales

but i still think the clothes are ugly  sorry

Yes the theme alright.....I admit that and I've said it too....but the actual clothes....can you pinpoint anything that really looks like a VW piece in this collecion and stop talking abou the same themes and inspirations...only then I will be convinced....(that last thing sounded like if I was Yoda :P)

Well how many people on here buy RTW? But we b*tch about that anyway!!

I think these clothes are equally gorgeous as the ones from the Egyptian collection and in fact have more detailing and work put into them. I prefer some of the colors from the egyptian collection but no bother.

Are you talking about Native Americans or Indian as in India....'cause he's done that both already...

India, but I'd love to see him update it...

maybe there aren't any

Don't can't on it...Galliano is the king of 7-inch platform shoes...Viv Westwood is the queen :P

anybody else notice how fast moving this thread is? it's crazy! :woot:

OH MY GOD THERE ARE!!!!!
I just noticed!!!
they look like more of the 7-inch platforms...... like at F/W 2003 PAP and the peking opera couture show

.....also perhaps pushing the vivienne westwood references softgrey keeps saying are blatant?

i kind of think so now :ninja:

ps: i really love that victorian floral/cherub print on that gown. i can so see it on a saddle bag or something, which i know it will be :flower:
