Wow! That peacock was is gorgeous!
I've totally dismissed the fact that some of them are 'unwearable' but to pay more attention to fabric manipulation, embellishment etc etc instead... and i have to say that they're pretty damn good !

And those other dresses that sprout out from the knee down, I did that too in some drawings...I was shocked to see how much my work resembled his
wow...we managed to pump out 16 pages!!!! amazing...that stuns me more than dior!
well...i sorta always have loved outrageous dior stuff...dunno what i'd wear, but i luv seeing it. I think Haute Couture is a chance for a dsigner/couturer to express their art at the most extreme level.
anyways...you kno how much i luv VW!!! i think the whole idea is going to be trust into the spotlight within next season and will water down well...we've sorta already seem heaps of looks from Fall...

Wow - some stunning stuff - the colors and the textures - beutiful, the copying - way outa my league
The Make-up - some of it was atrocious. Theres good drag queen and there's bad drag queen. Some of the models actually looked like men, the white powder really squared their jaws. Only a few could carry it...

...i don't think the casting was very strong...but maybe we just don't have the GLAMAZONS around today that are needed to pull of this kind of drama...ie-nadja, eva, christy, linda...etc...these girls were larger than life and therefore could carry these kinds of huge dresses...
these little girls we have these days just don't cut it when it comes to these kinds of clothes ...imo...

although this collection may be completely derivative and mostly unwearable, i really think that this is just what the couture needs. no one is creating clothes this grand AT ALL in fashion these days. couture has so rarely been about what people actually wear and about fantasy.
yes, some of this is pure costume, but some of what chanel puts out is purely archival. there needs to be this balance in the couture. my only fear is that with this grand of a presentation for the couture and his outstanding menswear show...what does spring/summer hold for the ready to wear. i hope it doesn't suffer as badly as fall/winter did.

Yes, I just saw it....the music is rock-n-roll meats barok....hail for the great Jeremy Healy......
And those poor models...there was not a single model that did not almost fell....and especially poor Erin.....she had to strike her pose like 6 times to blind the fact that she was losing her balance constantly.....but in the end, noone actually fell so B)
maybe it's just me and i tend to analyze things a little too much (i'm just that kind of person)... but i do agree with softgrey about the drag element of the show now. john tends to do it a lot, actually, and i'm well aware that everyone's noticed.
at the beginning of this collection, there were complete and obvious references to Divine in Pink Flamingos... the silhouette of the dress, the color...the shape was exactly like divine's infamous red fishtail dress in Pink Flamingos.....and the song playing while the model walked the catwalk (Little Richard's "The girl can't help it") also played in the same movie, as Divine sashayed (exactly how the model on the catwalk did) down the street.
vive le drag i say.
at least john represents and respects one of its early pioneers!
ps: they also played "the girl can't help it" as john posed and took his bow on the catwalk..figures

Draqs have always been big in his collections....like his s/s collextion for 2003 for his own label....it was actually partially inspired by Trojan, a famous draq from London's clubbing scene....

I love this collection regardless of what most people are saying, i think for the most part it is amazing with a few exceptions.
