in my eyes, it looks as if inspiration came from some kind of car design:
some methods you'd remove all the moldings and plane down it smoothed, with seams minimized as much as possible
or even clay modeling of automotive prototype where it is aerodynamically shaved and shaped.
maybe, super low Cd footwear

I am reffering to these statements in particular,
as he many other "Niche" brands are not known for these kind of this such as "pre-fall" and "resort" among other things that are usually done by the "traditional" Brands

rising green labels nowadays such as commuun, naoki takizawa, etc did present those kinds.
labels like limi and even julius have been doing compact collection between the full-sized ones.
some things are not the same as they used to be, at least over here.
the other day, chrome hearts placed a full-page advertisement in one of the most major newspapers, and what was more it looked like one of those ads for dior or something of that sort.

I was talking about and was (and am, needless to say) looking forwart to his solution he should come up with, with the context above as material for sublation.

stores who carry that cdiem say it is "reissued in collaboration with wjk".
wjk's explanation as of now is "collaboration project, cdiem for wjk".

an interpretation deduced from there is that wjk became an assignee to use the name and deal in its legacy, in exchange for buying out the whole dead stock on his hands.
although I don't know about the details of a contract at all, like how long etc,
I'd be surprised if they produced something new of their own design as cdiem.

so I'd say you can think it's like the relationship between lotus seven and caterham seven.

So in reality, they're just cdiems that couldn't be sold and re-released with wjk's name?

If that's true, it's unfortunate. I was hoping to see some new work, even if it was wjk helmed. So no more cdiem, the brand is completely finished?

no it's not just cdiem. it it was really just cdiem, all the old retailers who had carried it since the 90's would get their hands on it. but in actuality none of them bought it, and it is being sold as wjk cdiem since after all some things cannot be the same.
anyway it's about wjk-helmed reproduction so far.
I guess what you were hoping to see should be more of wjk for cdiem.
I don't know if that will happen.
but maybe cdiem is not completely finished, as long as he is active.

guidi took up clothing line, you might like it.

you are welcome softgrey

that page says he made the shoes inspired by "room socks".
but I think it might be an item called jikatabi (a kind of tabi) since some of them look just like jikatabi's when worn and viewed especially from behind.
in this pic below, it's exactly the way jikatabi's would look on a worker.
and maurizio here looks like a traditional japanese pitchman (sort of a boss of street vendors) called yashi in the shoes and that shape of pants.

when he came over to japan years ago, someone had made some arrangements and reserved a room at a first-rate hotel in a big city Shinjuku. but he didn't like it and had his own way and change it for an inn in a downtown Asakusa where you can see lots of old things still alive.
I guess he might have seen things like jikatabi worn by cool locals then.

btw, there are some pics of the traditional festival that takes place in that town in this link. the toe of the setta the man is wearing in the second pic is lifted.

thanks runner...:flower:

i like the coat ...it's nice ..
very classic but not boring...

though if i am honest...i still prefer what he does for men...
and i do think that the leather pieces are often the very best of them all...
including the look you just posted of the salted leather...

* this reminds me of the effect that boots will get during the winter in New York from the salt that is scattered on the streets and sidewalk to melt the snow and ice...
everyone knows that the salt will damage the leather so people take great measures to avoid wearing good leather shoes during this kind of weather and they wipe the salt off as soon as possible if they do get any on their footwear...
so it's kind of funny that maurizio is doing it on purpose...

i am always so careful to keep salt away from my leather...

^_^...

that pic of maurizio from the back is such a great silhouette...
thanks also for the explanation of the jikatabi and the festival pics...
i think i would love a pair of jikatabis in black...
but i bet they only make them in white, am i right?...
:P

the collection in #457 is SL by sara lanzi. the one whose speaking I had you translate once.
she used to do a line called geometric etc under the umbrella of maurizio.
but SL is her brand from her own company though she seems to be still in perusia.
the dream team is no more, all of them left him and are active independently and successfully. and he is doing almost alone, therefore it is more unstable than usual.
this year he already cancelled two events which had been under way.
anyway posting SL in this thread should have been confusing and wrong, sorry. I will post things related to him only.
is it possible to move the posts #448 and #457 to a new thread for SL sara lanzi?

yes salt is a menace to cars as well as leather shoes.
but maybe taboo or fixed idea is room the free mind of a person like him explores, undirected.
or he might have just thought of the idea when he was making merry in the snow wearing cdiem or was at a restaurant or saw rawhide cured in salt.
otherwise, like the greatest hate from the greatest love, he had actually been hard on leather. he even soaked leather in the sea for a month for sartoria project.
the shoes below were the ultimate. though he seemed to be leaning towards something clean after that. I don't know.

no fortunately they make black jikatabis too. if anything, white ones can be special worn on a happy occasion.
