I'm more concerned about Miroslava's rant to be honest. Wow.
)Have you guys heard about this?

- Ulyana Sergeenko wrote a note saying 'n****s in Paris' and sent it to Miroslava Duma,
- Miroslava shared a picture of the note on Instagram,
- both women had to issue a public apology,
- Miroslava has been removed from the board of brand The Tot (which she co-founded),
- Naomi re-posted the photo on her Instagram and wrote "This better not be real",
- Ulyana admitted it was a reference to a song by Kanye West and Jay-Z and she and her friends call themselves n****s because they want to look cool.
Thoughts?

First, as I've said it already here on TFS, it is true that many people in Europe, particularly people with little to no access to the internet, have no idea that the N word is racist. I only learned the true meaning 6 years ago, until then I thought it was a way of black people calling each other "bro". You hear it all the time on the radio.
That said, as soon as I was told the history of the word, I stopped using it. I agree, the word should be completely eliminated. Appropriation won't help in this particular case.
That said, I do believe she knew exactly what it meant. They are Russian and most Russians live in the 40s. Feminism, racism and homophobia/transphobia are non-issues for them, something created by the west. Most of the Russians I know are dangerously racist and transphobic. Even people from the fashion business. Which is so sad considering that I also know absolutely amazing Russian individuals that are kind, respectful, loving and against prejudice.
Agree. The excuse that Europeans or anybody elsewhere in the world outside of America aren't aware of that word's meaning or its cultural ambiguity (why blacks can say it, but others can't) is no longer valid. The internet connects us all and I find it hard to believe they're that naive or ignorant of the use of that word.
Wow, if Ulyana seems simply ignorant and stupid, then Duma is just plain hateful. The question is - did she really change her views in the six years that passed, like she said in her apology?
No, you absolutely can not say that! This is my problem with black America, the notion that world is supposed to know absolutely everything that's culturally wrong here.
Let me clarify. I am black and I live in New York, but I have traveled to enough parts of the world and experienced enough cultures to know that what you're saying is absolutely 100% not the case. Some cultures aren't aware of the meaning of the word and to them it's a term of endearment like "bro" or whatever you want to use when communicating with a friend. They don't learn American history in school and they use the word because they enjoy pop culture or rap music and it's used there.
Now, do I believe Sergeenko didn't know the meaning of the word? Absolutely not, she just used it anyway and thought it ok and could get away with it. This is a wealthy woman who spends enough time in the western world to know the difference. The real as*hat though is Duma, not only for posting, but also for what she said about Bryanboy and Andrej Pejic.
That N word is absolutely disgusting and shouldn't be used. However, we need to start holding these rappers accountable as well. You cannot throw that term around if you're an internationally known person, who also expect people to buy your music, but not use the word. It's like buying a gadget but only allowed to use some of the features. No one should use it. Period! This is exhausting.

I'm sorry. But she has done it before and I guess she never learned.
