^ That's pretty uncool, but perhaps not unexpected from someone who sharpened her teeth at Fox. If I were Naomi, I might just get off social media.

Although I do see the hypocrisy of Naomi appearing on magazine covers and therefore fuelling even more public interest that will result in media intrusion/scrutiny, I think the way this Kelly woman and her cohorts are hounding her is really awful. I get that the covers were likely shot at a time when she didn't feel so overwhelmed, but still.

But you're right, Naomi should just get off social media and take a break. They'll move onto the next outrage.

All of these covers, shoots and endorsement deals that are just coming out now were actually shot last year or organized even before that. Anyone who works in fashion or media should know that. She is repped by IMG and one of the most in demand global faces so no doubt IMG has jam packed deals with her. Probably getting all of that done plus all of her other commitments is what is fueled her recent mental health struggles.

I feel the same. I have minimal knowledge of Naomi Osaka (tennis player, Japanese, makes appearances in fashion magazines because editors.. like tennis?, hates being interviewed after playing..?, and that's about it) but I did raise an eyebrow when I got the ad for her upcoming show on Netflix.. I was under the impression that she wanted less limelight, BUT... if I'm honest with myself and think hard about it, I'm not sure where I got that from :glare:.. I clearly read that she suffers the press conferences AFTER each game, how did my mind (and the mind of all the other butthurt journalists) distort it into 'she wants anonymity'? I do not know lol.

To be frank these press conferences do seem awful, I've seen glimpses of the tennis ones and have seen entire ones during the World Cup and while I can't compare my amateur daily running to years of discipline and commitment to the world of sports, I just don't know how they do it, remember Nadal's leg cramp? that would be me if I was forced to go into 'business' mode right after a long workout session... and not only their body is fried from exhaustion, so is their brain from the amount of pressure cause they're competing... only to sit down with a bunch of reporters 'so you think that in maybe 4 years, when your body is no longer at top shape since you'd hardly be considered young now, you'll be able to again cross from field A to field C without stopping by field B and do another extra jump like the one from 2012 but with the stamina of the Chilean tournament in 2015?'... WHAT?!.. it's either that or 'are you friends with Oprah?' or something really inane.

The only purpose of these interviews, as someone who's all over them during the WC lol, is just to feed into the madness of the public, there's nothing that can come out of it that's not already in the schedule really..

And no, I don't think she should get off social media if she doesn't want to. I want to see these reporters being as f*cking pedantic and obnoxious with male players.. Cristiano switching up his drink is not seen as ungrateful and petty, it's applauded for his incredible power to play with the stock market with the move of a finger.. Cristiano is a phenomenon, but even when they're smaller and exhibit other diva behavior, the treatment is way different, no one asks them to give it a rest and lay low..

(this is the longest thing I've ever said about tennis and I don't even know how you score :zorro:)

For the record, not saying what Naomi should do, but what I would do if I were in her shoes ... and in fact pretty much what I do not in her shoes

^ sorry that was not for you or Benn!, just the idea (that is around twitter too!) that she should adjust the reaction towards her not being into these post-game press conferences.

^ Thanks, I actually was wondering  Saw her in an old magazine and wondered why she dropped off the edge ...

Ugh. Soooo tired of people like this.

^ The people crying freedom seem to be confused about what it means. Their freedom should not extend to harming me, or those more vulnerable than both of us. It appears that she has had a vast amount of privileged freedom, and yet she still complains.

I also note she has a penchant for following men around the globe.

Everyone is a "victim", in some way or another throughout life. It's a matter of circumstances and perspective.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff Bezos believed he is a victim; of some sort.

And I guess he was, in that picture situation. I thought he handled it pretty well. I do pretty much believe in living your life in a way that you're un-blackmailable (now you're gonna tell me that's not a word ;))

I’m willing to bet she’s already vaccinated, but I still wonder how far her ideas of liberté, égalité, fraternité really go.

C'est à vomir.

It seems so crazy when an actor or public figure denies that they’ve done something. And they say like, “Oh, it’s olive oil, I bathe in seltzer.” It’s like, come on. Like all those things might be true, but they’re not why your neck is tight

I just live for this Marc Jacobs shade.

Bruce Weber has settled the misconduct complaints against - the one involving model Jason Boyce and a joint complaint that 5 other men brought against him according to wwd here

Does that mean he no longer has any "open" accusations against him? If so, I hope he starts getting more jobs again. I don't know the full details, but settling isn't an admission of guilt and if it's good enough a resolution for the people involved, it's good enough for me.

He's probably too much of a risk from a liability standpoint.

Why wouldn't Weber try to grab the same sort of clientele that Mario Testino is now aiming for? Testino's newer clients include tycoons from South East Asia like Myanmar's Ivan Pun - Wealthy millenials that want to do private shoots.

Settling is not an admission of guilt, and neither it is proof of innocence. All the lawyers of an accused company/person want is to settle discreetly from the start, especially with publicly humiliating lawsuits like this, and they will push for it and make sure you regret not doing that until you finally cave in and sign the damn thing. We don't know why they agreed to settle but it's been four years since they filed the lawsuit, and it's about sexual assault, with high aggressive lawyers on both ends.. it's exhausting.

From what I read in the documents, Bruce was a pig and some more complex behavior on the guys' end took place afterwards as a result of that.. which in my opinion, is not any evidence of consent. We all process traumatic events differently. Some pretend, for their own sanity, that nothing ever happened to them for years. In my eyes, Bruce did admit to it lol.. if I'm accused of touching someone inappropriately and my response is '.. and yet you asked to meet up two days later'.. that doesn't sound like it didn't happen, it just sounds like I think you liked inappropriate touching because I'm delusional enough to think no one in their right mind and with their ambitions in order would object to the potential life-changing opportunities tolerating my 'naughty' behavior will bring.

I love Bruce's work, he'll always be one of my all time favorite fashion photographers and I don't think he necessarily climbed to the top by stomping on the lives of others, I think he would have the same success, it's just unfortunate that for some, reaffirming their "success" does equal leaving long-term scars on the self-esteem of whoever randomly crosses their way. I frankly wish to see Bruce's work again, he's an old man who has contributed a lot to photography that it's a shame we don't get to see what's likely the last phase of his work. Ideally he would've learned something from this process, the guys would find some closure with the settlement (and the fact that Bruce Weber is no longer Bruce Weber!), other current predatory photographers would take notes and.. time to turn the page.
