Something about the cAnCeL aLl tHinGs RuSsIaN!!1! doesn't quite sit well with me. It reeks of privilege. Like.. I'm glad you live in a country enjoying a solid (lol) sociopolitical stage where someone with the mind of a 5 year old can split everything into good and bad, angels and devils, cause it's that great and morally sound!, but the reality is a lot more complex in some other countries.. you don't just openly "oppose" and condemn an administration (that looks more like a dictatorship) that surveils your family and knows exactly where they live and work and that has been unapologetically poisoning critics and opponents in broad daylight. The idea that if you don't oppose, you therefore support and whatever you do for a living should then be exterminated.. is just.. revolting, in addition to being such an embarrassing, simple-minded, selfish mentality. I keep reading things like 'the conductor at the Munich Philharmonic did not oppose... SO WE FIRED HIM!'... wow, bravo, going after the artists, cause you know, never in history have artists been directly 'moderated' by their governments, becoming allergic to the sole mention of a Russian is just the kind of thing that will debilitate Putin's regime and make him second guess just why oh why is he in Ukraine in the first place..? he's been treating his own people with tons of affection and respect for so many years so I'm sure he'll give a f*ck AND STOP.
Just hope that when the tables are turned (and they will because.. conflict in the West is pleonasm), no one cancels you for living in a country where Le Pen or Paul Golding inexplicably rose to power.
/rant lol. Also: yeah, a luxury brand supporting, condemning, erasing their ig grid.. ugh.. so glad! I really wanted a new pair of Balenciaga sunglasses just wasn't sure where they stood in the conflict!
