Dior Homme Mens F/W 08.09 Paris

those red and green shiny fabric look totally raf!

the only items i like are butterflies!
yet the collection is rubbish

I agree with a lot of you. I dont feel any one theme or inspiration that ties everything together. I also think the casting was better last season. Dior Homme on average models is just not right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I think the theme is "lumiere du nord"...which using my nonexistant French...I think means 'northern lights'? But this really doesn't explain much, because there are only a few pieces that hint toward it. Maybe KVA's styling is his problem? There are a few desirable items in there.

this may look very close to dior homme we have in mind. but i am sure if we compare the cuts, the silhouettes, the fabrics, the general mood. this has nothing to do with it. i think it's closer to versace than it is to hedi :ninja::ninja::ninja:

I think that's true.

edit: ugly models also!

I like it-minus the mc hammer pants and the most of the leather pieces.
IMo this is closer to the Hedi aesthetic than least season but its in a different direction
I’m not sure if its better but I will say its good to see a different look when it comes to models.

Thanks for the pic Ale!!!!!!!!!I can't wait to see the detail shots. I really want to purchase I few items from this collection next fall.

hello, i'm kva and i FAILED
idiot! he ruined my fav mens brand!
this looks luster-dh aw06-lagerfeld mix and it is absolutely WRONG!
and those CD belts they scream: look at me i'm a &&&&&&. leave it for dg!

There are tons of Dior Homme pieces circa Hedi Slimane that scream "look at me". Case in point, silver glitter jeans, gold and silver high heeled boots and numerous other things. To call someone say someone is an idiot because they did not rehash something that has already been done is a bit strong. I personally like KVA vision for Dior Homme.

it seems like the clothes are too small for the built models...the suit jackets are stretching badly
the pants make a good editorial piece
the skinny jeans on built men are bad...
he's trying to get a hedi vibe going there...hum...but...not good...

Maybe KVA is good in execution but lack in vision!! And I think that is why Hedi is more successful as a designer!!

in hedi's days the "look at me" pieces were well done and in a comtemporary context, at least in most cases. this just a big amateurish mess: the cuts, proportions, fabrics, cheap looking details...not to mention the models & styling. sexy as someone said before? definitely not in my opinion. looks a bit like some slavic costume drama on ukranian tv. maybe kva just got too much too soon?

Ok, you miss Hedi, but WTF? amateurish? Grow up...

I did like like most of the jackets. The butterfly blazers are very cool. Some looks did not appeal though, but I really loved others. This is more Tailored, I did not see any logo tees yet. And that's good! And do you know why? Dior Homme is supposed to be on the top of fashion, that's the vision of the owners.. Not that it should be an underground label for some cool rock kids that happens to spend 300 dollars on a T shirt just to show off. Face it, with logo or not, it's all about showing off anyways. This is a much better way to show off IMO!

It's just lost everything Dior Homme was about...I wish they would call it Christian Dior instead. DH was all about the models and the music...it was more than a collection of clothes. This just seems like another fashion show. Some of the pieces are nice but I'm not excited about any of it.

I do feel a bit sorry for Kris Van Assche...it must be a tough job to take over from Hedi but at the same time he has tried to please everyone (the fans of hedi and those who wanted a change) it's kinda of a middle ground between the two...I don't dislike it really but I don't care about any of it. I dunno...Move on...

Everything is off about the fits; either the pants are too baggy, or too skinny, the jackets are a size or two small.. the presentation is really bad. I miss the anorexic looking boys of prior days.

Does anyone know what music was played?

i'm already tired of all the arguments going in the kris vs hedi fight....
:innocent:

but please this is a good collection (eventhough i'm disappointed by the black box....)
last season was a good collection....

and yes Kris' making DH evolving....
get used to it.....

Hedi, even if he's listening to your complaints, won't come back.....:ninja:...:flower:

Eh, after looking through this, I'm not convinced. Makes me wonder how long KVA will continue to stay with the brand...

yes we should call it Monsieur Dior instead of DiorKids.....

and yes it was more than a collection of clothes, with Hedi.....
it was good first collections.... and then a all collection of people coming back from Pop'In, Paris......
he all took his silhouettes overthere, drinking Perrier.....

the first collections of Hedi were excellent (@ YSL and Dior)....
the all skinny jeans rock boys is a big joke......

I'm sure he won't be going anywhere. As long as he can continue making graphic print tees, skinny jeans, and sneakers he (and the brand) will survive.
