Dior Homme

 true...but i don't feel the excitement i had back then anymore. I was just getting into fashion round the time VotC came out and Dior had that 'mystique' to it...now that i have discovered it is so ubiquitous to the point of being obnoxious, time for me to jump ship. I can dig what Pharrell said about "escaping trends"

to elaborate...just viewing the past dozen or so pages in this thread, seeing comments about people on the street and what not...i have come to the conclusion that at this point it does not require much style or effort to pull off Dior Homme...it seems if one wants to duplicate the elegantly wasted indie rocker look all they gotta do is throw on The End tee, a leather jacket, some overdyes and DH converse style hi tops and they can be the example of a well dressed DH boy. Just seems kind of thoughtless...while clothes by the likes of Yohji, classic Comme and Issey, those really need the right personality and character to pull off, and just seems like it involves a deeper level of perception. Maybe that's just me, you guys can flame me all you want just my 2 cents.

by the way, no offense intended by above post to anyone in particular...just a blanket statement. The likes of AlexN obviously do not apply, as you seem to wear DH very well and mix it into your wardrobe with other stuff to create a look completely your own, rather than just going with the stylist's direction.

It's cool, man. I agree with you. It usually doesn't take any effort at all. You're totally right. But when it's hot out, that's totally me. I just throw on a DH tee, jeans, and sneakers, and I'm done. Screw it. I'm well aware that I'm like that, and I really don't give a sh*t because I know I can do better when I want. Plus I'll usually at least throw a little extra something in there.

Also, now that I'm living in a dorm, I'm always throwing on clothes super fast before classes. So I'm glad that I don't always have to think about it. Call me lazy.

And see, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The fact that you are well aware of your 'style surroundings,' so to speak, already means you are light years ahead of the pack...i think it's fine to wear that stuff, as long as one isn't blindly following that whole image with some perception of being in the 'fashion elite' just because they are buying into that package. As the common sense mantra goes, I really think good style comes from wearing what's comfortable and what's you, more importantly...

yes i relate to throwing on clothes really fast, as i live in a dorm too. even on days where i'm wearing more elaborate outfits (which is VERY rare), they've already been saved into my mental hard drive as i've most likely worn that outfit many times before

Could someone tell me what collection these are from? I won them recently and I'm very curious while waiting to receive them. Thanks.

this is how i wore dior last saturday: with a cloak shirt, vintage waistcoat, and girls levis. it didn't take much effort either.

Oh, I was thinking they were older than that. Thanks! Great picture, too. Everything looks great.

Here's the F/W 05 stuff in my closet right now. I did have the blue whiskered jeans, but I didn't like how they fit so big (and they were a freakin' 27), and they seemed so cheap compared to my S/S 05 blue lurex jeans, so I sold them at no loss. Anyhow...

Alex,

The jeans are from SS04/Strip. I also have a pair which i purchased back then, along with the lacquered version.

Man... pretty damn sweet Alex!

When I get back from NYC this weekend I'll take a layout of all of my Dior pieces!

I just received a gorgeous Solitaire wool vest/tank top in the mail today. First non-suit or pants piece I've had from that collection. Too bad it's getting cold out now.

Maybe I'll pick up some older season pieces this weekend from consignment stores or something... nothing this season really appeals to me. I bought the knit scarf and the double eagle tee in green, but the rest is very "meh" to me. Although I do admit I feel like I've seen a de-evolution of the image of the brand as mentioned in the last few postings, and it's very disappointing. VotC was nice because it was very wearable and still retained some of that DH mystique. Ah well, all good things must come to an end eh? Let's see what FW 2006 looks like considering S/S is going to be absolute shite.

Ahhhhhh, now that's more like it. Hehe. ;)

Thanks Albert. That vest sounds cool, and I can't wait for your layout.

Bartholomew you wear the DH look very well...and don't take this as me hitting on you or anything, but you totally got the "DH boy" thing down pat, hairstyle and everything.

I swear if I spot anyone wearing DH in Newcastle, he/ she is going to be my best bud!! Is a f****** third world here! Glad am only gonna be here for another year!

newcastle is great. i lived there for 6 years and loved it. i must admit the shops are pretty crap like.

That new duffel bag ... what do you guys think about it?

At first it reminded me of the Miu Miu one from last season...

I was tempted to get me one of those jackets for just a second, I then realised that even the showroom sample had some loose threads with sequins hanging down and it ultimately looked very cheap (also given the fact that the sequins were quite big, unlike the ones used in Luster where they also had a jacket fully embroidered), and that was just on the FIRST day of their showroom... so imagine how it will look like after some wear ...

^ LOL the first thing that poppped in my head was

MISTTAAA SPAKURUUUUUUUUU

I think it was somewhere in the 2500 € range... so it should be a bit more in dollars...

Oh, I then ended up buying myself the sparkly suit that Karl Lagerfeld wore as a jacket when he bowed after his S/S 2006 Chanel show... mine is the short, 68cm one button version, though... I absolutely adore it since the fabric is much more elaborate (with fine shiny threads woven through the wool gabardine for a horsehair-like surface), compared to just covering a Super 110's with Sequins... You instantly see the fabric sticking out whenever the fabric is creased, that´s what I don´t like...

are you sure? i had the same pair and they were absolutely victim of the crime (4HH), but then again, maybe the ones i had were a reissue?
