Bartholomew you wear the DH look very well...and don't take this as me hitting on you or anything, but you totally got the "DH boy" thing down pat, hairstyle and everything.

Cool jeans. What is the unofficial "name" for those (e.g. black painted blue, orange overdye, etc.)? Don't think i've ever seen them before.

newcastle is great. i lived there for 6 years and loved it. i must admit the shops are pretty crap like.
Is a great city but not many nice shops around like you said!! Even Cruise, they often carry very basic stuff and it is always the same!!And some of the sales assistant in Cruise are like so snobbish...

Anyway saw some cropped jacket in H&M today and I am so tempted to get them!! Just for the moment when the SS2006 stuff is out!

Well, the black painted blue jeans arrived and I'm glad I got a 48...right now in the waist it fits like my S/S 05 21 cm overdyes, i'm wearin em low...I think a 46 might have been too tight in waist and or/too slim in the leg for comfort. As I've said in like 3 other threads already, these are a true work of art and I am just blown away by how incredible they look in person.

Those are truely amazing jeans...
I never got an answer on whether DH flagship stores carry a big stock in waxed jeans or they are limited quant.
The painted jeans are they ever reissued?

Thanks...and unfortunately I don't think they were ever reissued. eBay is a good bet though I've seen quite a few pairs pop up there lately, esp. if you're a 48/32...don't think i've seen any lower sizes, however.

If i recall correctly, the colour name on the tag read 'bleu claire'. It doesn't really have a dubbed 'unofficial name' as they weren't as prominent as the say the current wave of orange-overdyes etc. as far as i'm aware!

Strip saw a number of jeans that aren't all that well know actually. The 2 that caught the most attention were the slim black ripped/destroyed denim and the lacquered bleu claire.

There was also the non-lacquered bleu claire as above which comes across as if they're simply a bit dirty/dry/dusty with a light tar like finish, another light blue pair but with a heavier acid type distressed wash, and also another which was simply a light stonewashed/distressed blue.

Thanks for the detailed answer...so those are the infamous bleu clair jeans? I remember looking at your pics of the pair you sold a while back, they seemed a lot more 'clear' as the name suggests...like the shade of blue was so light and pure...which is why I thought AlexN's model was one of the dirty washes from Strip. It's cool to see those jeans in their actual state, I think they seem more rare than the black painted blue jeans! I have seen a lot of black painted blues recently but i rarely hear of the bleu clair being discussed, i guess that is my next target! :p

Hmmm...if they're that rare, I guess I'll be making a bunch of money if they're too tight and I sell them, especially since they're ultrarare size 27. And I got them for a damn good price. :D

Yeah...hey Alex I remember you said you were selling your blue whiskered jeans to buy an older season jeans...were these it?

Yep. The funny thing is I spent a lot less on these than those crap current-season whiskered jeans.

Oh Alex's ones are definitely the dirty wash which i described as having a light tar like coating finish, but i think they too were referred to as bleu clair, though i don't remember for sure. The lacquered ones were tagged as 'bleu clair tri brill.' Essentially all the light blue jeans from Strip regardless of final finish started off as the light stonewashed/distressed bleu clair which you correctly mention that i recently sold.

They were indeed tagged bleu clair but were simply the light stonewashed/distressed version i mentioned at the end of my previous post. Sometimes the actual worded colour code doesn't help all that much ('Indigo' is ubiquitous enough but there are so many variants haha) so the colour code at the end of the item reference number is probably more useful in determining for sure.

Sure they're rare, but whether rarer than the black painted version, i'm not too sure (i purchased all 3 versions back in SS04 with ease which is possibly why i don't feel that way), maybe both as much as each other?

If anything, these are super rare and i can't believe i missed out! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7718278114&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I absolutely adore the first generation metal/palladium zipper pulls stamped with 'CD'..

hey, so you made a profit and got something better in return, sounds like a good deal to me. @ those current season whiskereds being crap though...eh things never seem the same after owning them.

holy crap, those are real?! I saw those and was questioning whether or not they were the earliest model of raw denim, and if indeed that is a damn good price. Are they selvedge?

As real as it gets! I'm not too sure if they're selvedge, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were. I recall the early raw denim jeans (say from SS03) being selvedge and these pre-date even those. :flower:

As much as i would have loved to get my hands on them, I suppose one can relax as APC's are near identical. ^_^

Yeah you're probably right about the APC's, but when I tried on the New Standards it was very stiff and uncomfortable, and maybe it was the lighting in the store but it didn't seem very blue-ish indigo to me, more like a metallic black/silvery kinda thing. Or maybe that was a different colorway and they didn't have the indigo? Regardless, I think I'm gonna cry myself to sleep now.

Well all dry denim seems rather stiff and uncomfortable, have you ever tried DH dry denim jeans? I'm surprised you didn't get the same feeling....Maybe you just dislike how the cut feel on your body though.

As for the color unless it was a special model it was probably the store lightning....
