I can't believe Beyonce got nominated for Best Actress of Comedy/Musical at the Golden Globes!!!! :(

^ I read somewhere yesterday that people were pissed that Beyonce got nominated in the lead actress category, while Jennifer Hudson got the supporting actress nomination. Apparently Jennifer's role was actualy bigger than Beyonce's. :ermm: I'm rooting for Jennifer to win and the buzz is good for her so far. :woot: Wouldn't it be fantastic if she got nominated for an Oscar or better yet, if she won?

^yeah thats what i'm mad about!! Jennifer should definitely be nominated for the Oscar!

I think it was a given that Beyonce would get a GG nom, the category for comedy/musical usually has a bit more leeway for less than worthy nominees. Plus given some of their other nominations in the TV categories, the GG folks have shown themselves to be blinded by star status. I mean Evangelline Lilly? Ellen Pompeo? Those women can't act their way out of a paper bag.

That being said, Beyonce has zero chance at an oscar nom. For sure Merly Streep will get nominated and Renee might have a good chance. All the 5 nominees in the dramatic categeory are very worthy but one of not two of them will be bumped. No way will Beyonce sneak in there.

I think Jennifer is a lock for an AA nom and a possible win as they love to give the supporting award to a newbie. I think Beyonce will get a nom for the song she and her team of people wrote for Dreamgirls and that will be it.

I just realized that Brad Pitt is listed as a producer on The Departed and so if it wins for best picture (and I think it has a good shot) then he'll get an oscar.

I love seeing Leo DiCaprio's name in there TWICE for best actor at the GG. Maybe technically not a good thing since I guess it will split the votes, but that's an awesome honor. Finally, the people who say he's just a pretty face with no talent need to come up with a new argument. Go Leo!

No one stands a chance against Helen Mirren, imo. She was just waaaay too good in "The Queen."

The buzz around Dreamgirls is annoying. Equally as obnoxious is the buzz around Jennifer Hudson. Aside from critics who have pre-screening privileges, who else has seen the movie? The movie just came out a couple of days ago in a handful of theatres, and people are already going loco over her?!

Just remember that Pia Zadora and Madonna have both won Golden Globes. Why is a Beyonce nomination so surprising in comparison?

Guess the movie (and J. Hud.) is that good sorry to say. The movie did very well in the 4 theatres this weekend so there will be more buzz. persoanlly, I'm excited that J.H. is getting the prasie- she's v. tatented.

I must say it's the tightest race this year by far. They're ALL so good and deserving. I got my faves but it's going to be very, very close; it could go either way.

Firstly, I'm sick to death of the Dreamgirls hype.
I haven't seen the movie, and I probably won't see it. But I do wonder if any of the performances in the movie truly are award-worthy, or if it's just the hype that has led people to think that they are.

Secondly, the Oscars are a joke. Though I must admit that watching the ceremony every year is a guilty pleasure of mine -- and I mainly watch to see what the actresses are wearing.

Anyway, don't be surprised if Beyonce does get an Oscar nomination. The Oscar nominations are not so much about merit as they are about marketing campaigns and "For Your Consideration" ads. So if the studio that produced Dreamgirls launches an aggressive marketing campaign, expect Beyonce to get a nod.

Also, just look at some of the nominees/winners from previous years: Queen Latifah, Cher, etc.
If they got a nomination, then anybody can.

i'm really surpised ryan gosling didnt get a gg nomination for half nelson

he was so good in it!

I didnt want to see the departed, or Babel...but now I sorta do.

"Little Children" was a good performance by Kate Winslet. That film was very disfunctional

Watch The Departed. It´s amazing!!. And Leonardo DiCaprio is brilliant. Although I really liked Babel, I find the topic a little boring at this point. Important message and everything but...... I don´t know. I know we´re all different but at the same time connected and stuff but I´ve seen too many movies with that topic (crash for example). I just want to see something else.
