Gucci S/S 07 Milan

regardless of the era of the dress' shape---they areall empire waisted, highly architectural. a differnt take on teh muumuu trend. its stilla triangle--except the flare adn widthe at hte end of the longer dresses is created by those tunnel things--what are they called again??--- i think she figured--let me stick with thsi shape, encorporating the forties(which frida has been working on for a bit--as evident in teh fall collection) and then mixing it with something besides the 70s--- the broadened, inverted triangle tops are great cuz its a new way to ook at androgyny---i thin kthis is her trying o warm the audience up to something new---make gucci wearable, fresh, yet classic---all over again.

even the folklore prints are architectural in style. and there is something sorta samurai about the cut of the jackets--its not straight forties... its the same sort of mishmashing evident in the arc jacobs show, prada, and even burberry.. can't wait for chanel

Very very hotch potch.... there are some pieces which are great individually but altogether looks very very confusing.

I can't deny this will sell well though. It's not repugnant. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me!

i love the wwd review, exactly my feelings.

i can't really relate to this collection.....everytime i see it, i just go: ok, i can get cheaper version of this or that somewhere else, why bother about gucci? it's just nothing special in there!!

Am I the only one who thinks this line doesn't look in tune to the Gucci aesthetic Tom Ford established at all?

I like some of the dresses especially the one Irina wore, but the rest is too excessive in prints and shape.

Geez! Gucci has really gone to the dogs hasn't it

there are one or two pieces that are stunning IMO, and I love the strong palette... it's so sexy... but over all, there's no continuity. it's eclectic in a bad way. bah.

i love love love this particular dress though:

I adore it!  :woot:

Well I adore it
I don't mind what WWD has to say, I think Frida is being very smart about what she wanted to reach, a less frightnening image of a sexy woman, sexy but less hard, and I can see this totally,
these dressses works for all kinds of woman, of course you're gonna have to like the purple red combination, but I never thought of it, until Frida put it out, and now I'm thinking I can wear some of this clothes...

I think I always can find a cheaper version, except for some few designers, but this is Gucci not Mc queen...

I'm really disappointed - not the frst time!
But I'll check once again later. to me it's very 60s-70s, the color mix is bad (black, red & purple = herk!), I feel a Russian doll spirit, too. finally : a mix of everything that gives absolutely nothing!

This is definetly Frida finding a balance between Gucci's sex and her own taste. Love what I see so far!

it's indeed something very annoying when you have a mix of everything that gives nothing, and it's what I can blame the more about fashion designers but it wasn't the feeling I first had for this collection...

frida absolutely do it right.i love this collection, especially the one on irina.but i wont deny that there are so pieces are just awful.but however i love frida's design.

I miss gucci so much, I don't know what to say, its just not the same. I want tom ford back, its just not the same....

Look at the COLORS! A little too busy for me, some of it... but I very much enjoy admiring the pieces from afar.

i think wwd is underestimating thsi collection. i think it falls right in with Gucci--- jsut a more femme version. honeslty--i am tired of all the hardlined, hyper sexed, masculine clothes that Gucci had for so long. that crap got TIRED. this is whimsical, flirty--but still very much-- Gucci. it will just take some time for peopel to get used to a gucci headed by a woman--that shows it. the only other colection i loved was the fall one from 2005 with all the indian influences---cuz it was feminine. i am really tired of boys designing clothes for 'women' /men

Agree ... Tom Ford has nothing to say about me ... this collection may not be my cup of tea, but I don't find it offensive ... Tom is just nasty.

The construction/lines look much better here than in Frida's debut collection. Not really sure how last fall's was cut as I had to shade my eyes from all that gold 80s hooker crap :innocent:
