I dunno if i'm resisting hte change or whatever, but i really havn't like the collections for Gucci since Tom left, last season however was quite nice :flower: i think they should've given the designer at least one more season. This collection, however, the clothes seemed so common, does anyone else get that as well? I don't know, maybe thats the whole point to get more people to buy the clothes??

I have to agree Tom was one of my fav, the new collection as a long way to go before you are on the status of Tom Ford and a big gap to fill.Time will tell as they say.:innocent:

Maybe they have forgotten sex sells.Tom knew what that was and how to make every woman want to be that sexy. Tommy hilfiger collection made me fall asleep has he no vision, maybe he should stick his head out of the sand to see what the rest of the world is up to.

Anyone know how much this top is!!! I want it for uni! :woot:

It's $395 or around there.

Ive seen it in a vogue magazine...Hold on ill check for you, I think that price ^ is right though...

^that's rather heavy, i'd rather go to topshop or gap for a shirt like that.....

Those trousers! I still have a beef with her regarding the cut of her skinny pants today. And she kept doing them an awful number of times.
I still got the shoes, a blouse and a printed dress from this collection.

This is more commercial in it essence than what Sabato showed but it’s also more confident.

At least, there was an air of glamour somehow…And the campaigns styled by MAS were fabulous!

They're both effectively in placeholder position (Frida was, SdS now is) but idk whether it's rose tinted glasses making us say this? Because Frida wasn't doing a huge aesthetic departure from the Tom Ford years the way Sabato now has to establish a 'new post-Alessandro' Gucci look.

She gradually came back to the Tom Ford sex appeal. Spring 2010 was the collection were she finally received some good reviews.
If you look at all her collections, pre-collections included, between 2006 and 2009, they were very products-ish, very HF-like. Commercial in a very digestible way. I think Spring 2008 was probably the worst.

And remember it was a time where fashion was still aspirational and designed for a grown woman, not a Gen-Z teenager.

What is also particular to Frida’s tenure was that she came after Tom leaving in a high note. His last 2 collections for Gucci prior to his farewell showed an evolution in his aesthetic and even in the types of clothes he was making. He was evolving as a designer.

There was a Frida fatigue when Alessandro joined but also an Alessandro fatigue when Sabato joined.
But you can make commercial look good. Alessandro’s firsts collections were very commercial, very products centric. Sabato looks like a trunk show, not so much a POV.
