How do you make your skin smooth and flawless? #2

After a nasty breakout courtesy of coursework deadlines and irritable teachers I started smothering on Sudocrem after a good few layers of my moisturiser and it's done wonders for my skin. Day after all of my spots (even cystic ones) were dried and/or greatly reduced in redness and size. I love it! I've kept on with it because it's just such a nice product and I feel like it really seals in any moisture and just makes my skin feel nice and taut.

I've been testing Eucerin aquaporin rich moisturiser too and I really like it too! I usually put on 2 layers though or mix it with some coconut oil. If anyone has Vogue US with Lady Gaga on the cover you'll probably have read about aquaporins and how good they are!

I'm using coconut oil on my body now too and it's really nice leaving it soft and moisturised. It's even cleared up the bit of Keratosis Pilaris I had. Love it!

Exfoliation is the key, in my oppinion. And a consistent use of sunscreen!

For exfoliation I love Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish hot cloth cleanser (poor man's Clarisonic ) and a REN's Glycolactic Skin Reneval mask with glycolic acid and papain. Also Dr Hauschka cleansing cream is great if one learns how to use it properly!

agree! exfoliation is the key!! and I only started moisturising and never have before and im 20! its been 3 days and I already notice a difference.. less blemishes! that and water water water!!

Some background: After puberty I never had perfect skin but not any serious skin problems either. I had lots of blackheads on my nose and a few bigger pimples on my forehead every week.

These things have helped me to get a really nice skin and get rid of all bigger breakouts:

- Water! Not too much but at least a couple of big glasses per day.

- Eating vitamin D, preferably fish etc. but in the winter I eat supplements.

- Avoiding foods that are high in fat or carb. I still eat both in moderation but I never eat junk food other than sometimes pringles chips (I looooove them!). I have a serious sugar tooth though!

- Lots of fruits and veggies since I'm a vegetarian. I always take organic if I can choose.

- Preferring skin products that don't have fragrances or dyes. I could never use nivea, l'oreal etc that have a strong smell and a loooong ingredient list. The shorter list the better! Also using as few products as I can. At this time I use 3 different skin products.

- Exfoliating with a face brush few times a week.

- Clinique mild clarifying lotion! I haven't had a proper zit after starting to use this.

- Bare minerals make up, it's not for everyones skin but made my skin much better. Also I never ever sleep with makeup on.

- I avoid touching my face with unclean hands.

I really recommend the Clinique clarifying lotion. It costs like under $25, is alcohol free and has salicylic acid that helps to fight the pimples.

asap! I have just started using it and cannot recc it highly enough. Its a cheaper and far better skincare range than dermalogica. It has totally cleared up my skin from breakouts and blackheads!!! love it!

Does anyone know of the best brands for facials?? Im looking at trying Alpha H but I've also read Dermalogica can be quite good.

I love Dermalogica facials, so gorgeous^
I swear the only thing that has changed my skin is the pill. And exfoliating with baking soda and asprin.

use non-irritating skin care & cosmetics:
avoid volatile essential oils etc: Group of volatile fluids derived primarily from plants and used in cosmetics primarily as fragrant additives. These components most often include a mix of alcohols, ketones, phenols, linalool, borneol, terpenes, camphor, pinene, acids, ethers, aldehydes, and sulfur, all of which have extremely irritating and sensitizing effects on skin.

religious application of sunscreen: number one safeguard against wrinkles, skin discoloration, pre-mature aging.

Certain oils do have the tendency to irritate the skin, and we have listed some of the common irritants:

Basil
Benzoin
Birch
Black Pepper
Cassia
Clove
Cinnamon
Ginger
Lemon
Lemongrass
Lemon Verbena
Oregano
Peppermint
Pimento Berry
Pine
Tagetes
Red Thyme
Wintergreen

Dermal or skin sensitization can happen when certain essential oils are applied to the skin, even when diluted, and the skin normally reacts in the form of a rash, blotches and itching, and in some cases blistering can occur.

Normal allergic reaction involves the interaction of the immune system causing formation of antibodies to render the antigen (the offending oil) harmless, yet research has shown that skin sensitization is an immune system response and not an antigen antibody reaction.

Although not all skin sensitizing agents are known, it is the cinnamic aldehyde in cinnamon bark (we sell cinnamon leaf oil) and cassia oil that causes this reaction.

Costus
Elecampane
Cinnamon bark
Fennel (Bitter)
Cassia

^You left out lavender, probably one of the harshest oils out there.

Linalool is horrible for my sensitive skin, I try to avoid as much as I can. But I've found lavender to be rather soothing and the smell is very relaxing.

lavendar oil seems to help my skin weirdly enough! Probably the only oil on that list. Its also so calming...

for a few years i've had these clogged pores around my chin, sometimes (well, once a month around a certain time:lol:) they'd turn into pimples and i have many blackheads on my nose and some on my forehead. i've tried so many different products and methods (OCM) to clean my face but nothing ever got rid of everything and reduced redness and balanced out my skintone. but for a week now i've been using this new product range and it's done wonders. only very few clogged pores on my chin, my pores have gotten smaller and overall my skin has gotten way more even.
i'm using the cleansing gel, the skin tonic and the AHA mask

it's a German brand, i don't know where you can get it outside of Germany, but they're really great products
and the cleanser is only 6,50 and the tonic and mask only 8,50 Euro each, definitely worth a try.
after i used the mask for the first time my skin had a gorgeous glow, like i've always wanted it. i've always bought these lotions with light-reflecting particles in the hopes i'd get a nice healthy glow, but it never really showed up or only right after i applied the cream, but when i put it on after the mask, even hours later i still had that glow. i'm in love:wub::lol:

well, i'm rambling and sound like a sales agent but if you can, at least try out the mask, it's so good!

Sweating it out...never had better skin since I started sweating a lot with the TAM. My skin is better than ever.

TAM + a week on the elimination diet and I don't have any visible pores! Amazing!!

^Is elimination diet the one that's in Eliminating sugar from your diet thread?

Could someone detail the elimination diet for me? I've been eating like crap for weeks now due to exams and I NEED to get back on track.
