Here's a question for all the city ladies.
All the city ladies...All the city ladies...(bagoncye)
Can you Comfortably carry your city over your shouler by using the top handles when you first get your bag? do they stretch? or are the top of my arms just to big?:lol: it's tight for me!

bagalicious: The handles do stretch on the city bag with continual use.
A way to get them to stretch faster would be to put a book in the city bag
and hang it on a door know for a few days. In this way you should be able to get it to fit over your shoulder.

Thanks madmurdermud :flower:
Just gone thru the "city club" thread on TPF and there is hardly any pic's of city's being carried over the shoulder by the top handles, all on the crook of the arm or by shoulder strap...whew!
And beavercall you are right Naomi is a 05..
I was comparing my city to my black works which are more of a opaque jet black..more of an 09 :innocent:

/\ Coco..the pic you posted is a city being worn from the strap...i can do that! my arms arn't THAT BIG!
My city is currently hanging on my door handle with contents in.

Eeks, the Alexa looks wonderful. How's the leather though? I want to get either an Alexa or the PS1 or a school bag for files and papers and all but I'm not sure which one. And what colour?! Only one though, they are too similar in function for me to get multiples. No money also :(

How's the quality of the reps? I'm asking about the the leather, how much it stretches and things like that. My bag will prob be an everyday for school until the straps break off and I can't carry it anymore kind of bag.

Can someone PM me Jacky's url? I've got catty's but I people here seem to really prefer Jacky over Catty for anything other than LVs.

I also can't see the Olivia Palermo article. What happened?

xing: I understand that the quality of both Catty and Jacky's Mulberrys are great. I believe they may use the same supplier. The Alexa will be carried by both Jacky and Catty but it won't be available until sometime in late February. I don't know about using the Alexa bag as a schoolbag with heavy books and all. I do think that the bags are sturdy though. I know someone who has a Bayswater Rep from Catty and she said it wears like iron and gets more beautiful as you wear it.

Wow, thanks!

But Catty's site has SO few pictures of the bag. And they're always names like 109F or something so it's hard to check between similar styles. Say medium size and large sized when there's nothing to compare. Anyway, I pm-ed you about Jacky!

Bagalicious: You should be able to carry the City bag on your shoulder without a jacket. As for wearing it with a coat I don't think it would work.

The Mulberry Alexa is not ready yet. Catty only shows a sample picture but the end product is not ready. When it is ready she will send me some pictures. I will let you know once the final product is ready. The fine details are being worked on for this bag.

Yep, I can, and I have gone thru all the city pics of ladies wearing them on TPF and i see that the city sits VERY snug under the arm on even the most petite ladies, not much drop...all good thanks. :flower:
It seems that the favorite position is the crook of the arm. or the "flashdance" off the shoulder drop.

^^ Thank you coco! :flower::flower::flower:

If all goes well, i'll be showing pics of my new ps1 here! *crosses fingers and toes*

I did! I did and that helped me made up my mind about the Alexa vs PS1. PS1 it is then (:

I was hoping for the midnight navy blue colour that was super popular when PS1 first came out but they dont have it. so black it is. but black is OOS now so I'm hoping.:D

... *sigh* And back on the Birkin train I go. ARRRGH! I close-up'd Jacky's Birkins and his newest stock actually seems like the stitching is quite uniform. His handles are the best and his engraving is not too deep. I figured I'd go with the a black 35 or 40 PHW - something that can't be mussed up too bad. (If all goes well, I'll go for the 35 or 40 tan GHW for the summer.)

Any thoughts? Pics? Votes of confidence? Votes of 'girl don't do it!'? :)

Hey Coley,

FYI, I suggest a 40cm, as they are rarer and if details are a bit off, no one could instantly go HEY THAT'S A FAKE. My friend is a VP at a huge entertainment company in L.A. and has an auth. Chanel tote, and bought Joy's 40cm birkin with PH. It looks fab and no one suspects its anything but authentic because of (1) the size and (2) she carries it as she does the auth. Chanel. The stitching is great, is on a slant, and the imprints look right on.

Good luck! I'm off to look at Jacky's stuff now...

Shelley

SMKelly - I am not sure if 40cm is too big on me so I ordered a 35cm from J. It may still have time to change my order. Do you think if I should change it to a 40cm? Help!

FYI, my friend is 5'2 and about 125, and it looks gorgeous on her. I keep thinking of Nicole Ritchie carrying a work or weekender...it IS pretty large given her size, but she rocks it.

The only time I would say a bag was too big was the Katie Holmes-Cruise giganto red Hermes piece of luggage (practically) that she was carrying as a purse. I think it was the 50cm HAC, but the problem there is it was almost 50cm square. And so it absolutely looked like she was a 5 year-old carrying mommy's purse.

If you carry a briefcase or messenger bag, that's pretty similar to the 40cm. I think it's basically 17 inches across vs. 15 inches across.

Good luck!

Shelley

Thank you so much SMKelly! Yeah, Katie Holmes' red HUGE Birkin is way too big. That was so funny you said it looks like a 5 year-old carrying mommy's bag. I am pretty sure Katie could also fit her daughter in there.

I am going to cut out paper to measure and "try on". Thank you so much for your advice! :flower:

bagalicious - your grey Day is so beautiful! Is it a 2006 Gray? Do you know if T&D also has that color in different styles, such as City? I really want a color like that. I know T&D do recent years' color. I am praying they still have this color.

sanitizedfashion; you mentioned a while back that you wished someone did the Chanel you wanted? I can't remember exactly, but was it something from a few seasons ago? So what is your HG bag? Is it a jumbo/vintage flap? I like Chanel but not enough to feel that I could use it as an everyday bag. I could for sure wear a classic flap, timeless clutch or kelly style for a special occasion. (the kelly is like my favourite chanel).
I am really partial however, to a bag from several seasons ago called, I think the Chanel Noe. I think it was heavily repped although I've never seen anyone carry one.

I love when I return and I've got like four + pages to go through. I really wanted someone to make some of the more vintage jumbo's (not the XL although very similar), but with some of the more unique designs (patent, vertical, horizontal, and V-shaped stitching etc.). Frustrating, because I know it can be done and Jacky already has the correct hardware. I just love the look of the bag. If you know where to look, you can find these vintage babies for as low as $900-$1,000; So I figure I'll just wait for the right one and buy authentic. Now, I'm eyeing the modern jumbo or the new maxi as my HG but from the permanent ligne, so they're always in production. I just want details that would bug me to be close, i.e. linings, screws, no. of quilts etc. To me, these are what give Chanel reps up. I love classic flaps for day, evening, just all the time! I need something bigger these days than a WOC and small. My birthday is later this month, so we'll see if my I'll be getting faux or authentic before the price increase in Feb. Not sure I can help you with the Noe :(, because I've never seen an authentic one IRL. Although, my big sister got one (on Canal St.) years ago when we were young teenagers and it's still going strong besides the fact that she throws it on the floor. I think with Chanel reps, it's important to check for stitch detailing. Like, her Noe, is surprisingly well-made except for the somewhat crooked stitching of the "CC." For me, a dead giveaway, KWIM?

Oh, shelleybean, I might be falling for your wit! I know what you mean about bags too expensive. I kind of feel that way about the python PS1, which retails for about $4k. I also, recently found out that the LV SC bag retails for about $4k too, which put it lower on my prioritized list. Some handbags are just unreasonable for what they are and if I wouldn't pay for it at retail then I figure that I shouldn't own it even when they are attainable, if that makes sense. Not to mention that I've kind of started seeing this opulent guy, and friends, who is really into LV and fashion in general, no design goes past him which I don't really like . However, I agree that the general public is unaware of the relative prices of designer handbags and fail to recognize that non-obvious reps exist. I mean, who would suspect a faux MJ sasha messenger or Bal coin purse :innocent:? Pardon, all my questions about authentic-ish details, as everyone has said, I just don't want to be that girl... with the obvious rep :yuk: even aside from how it's rocked, you know?

sure! im nervous about receiving the bag though. for some reason i thought the bag was only 15" long not 18.5"

Thank you, but pixellated sent me the picture. I thought you were getting the vintage jumbo xl. When it arrives please post mod pictures! I love the size, but just wanna see it semi-in person ^_^. Although, I can understand your apprehension, it's a biggie.

Ladies, I'm loving this Birkin love. A few days ago I was googling the Olivia Birkin thing and tPF came up. It was in the "Celebrities and their birkins" from Feb 2009, where someone had posted Olivia and Birkin and someone was like, 'I could be wrong, but it looks fake. those handles are much too long.' To which someone harshly replied, "NO! It's not fake." How little they knew .

The CFO story and pics

Hey all,

I think Shelleybean asked this...

So the end of the story is this, but first some background. I (in my former life) was a chief financial officer for many years. Had the MBA, the corner office, the crippling responsibility, etc. Quit the biz totally when my CEO went all Enron. I am now a full time writer and editor in the the beauty industry. Even though I'm making half what I'm used to making, it's all about attitude and everyone at work and in the biz thinks I'm a nice Miranda...anyway...

Our CFO defaulted her way to the position because she's been with the company for 25 years, having started in the mailroom after graduating from working fast food at Carl's. She knows what she knows only because of rote learning and does so many illegal things it's not even funny. She's white trash and is threatened by me because she's seen my resume.

That said, she called me after I sent out a blanket email asking about the package and describing it to a "tee" although I hadn't seen it yet. "Shel, I think I might have your package."

I went to her office and she popped up from her chair and walked over to her couch, which was piled high on one side with folders, a coat, her purse, etc. "Um, I opened it. There was no name on the outside..." "Yes, but my phone number is on the EMS label and I never received a call or an email from you to the company stating there was an unidentified package"

So she fished out (from beneath the pile of folders, clothes and general crap) first the envelope and finally the bag in its dustbag.

She couldn't look me in the eye. "Thanks for keeping it safe." I said, "It was a Christmas present from my Aunt Mia; the style hasn't debuted in the states yet."

"Um, I'm glad you found it.."

Yeah, I am too.

Now come ON. I KNOW she was hoping no one would claim it. She is no fashionista by any means, but I know she's heard of LV. Can you imagine her thought process? There IS a possibility that she figured I was ordering a knockoff, but whatever. She has no way of proving it without drawing serious shade onto herself.

And now for two detail some pics courtesy of me. Again, from what I've seen on the vuitton website, it looks identical. Oh frabjous day!
:flower:

Also, I've included some detail pics of the NBF black work with RH. As bagalicious noted, it's a soft black. Took a shot of the mirror back against a pair of isotoner gloves and a cotton shirt to show the differences. See all the tiny white spots? Those are actually silverish sparkles. Weird, I know. But beautiful.

Happy Sunday, all!

I have petite, spindly arms and it is still snug on me. I mostly carry my cities on my arm. Naomi's gonna be a diva so no going "hands free" with her, unless you use the long strap.
