SB,

The Picotin is just a lovely little jewel. I don't carry her enough. Perhaps next week is a good time...here's a quick pic...quality is amazing. Leather thickness is almost 1/8 inch. It's the PM, approx 7.5 x 7.5 x 8.

I nearly ordered a SO Bolide 37cm from OMAS 2-3 years ago, in violet Togo leather, and as a single SO it would've cost me $600 delivered. I couldn't justify it at the time (and really still can't) but if I ordered from them, as I mentioned, it would be for the Bolide or an alligator Birk.

OMG I forgot to mention. As I was waiting for my rockin' 83-yr.old mum at the acupuncturist yesterday in Santa Monica, a nouveau-riche looking 30-something couple were in the waiting room. He was first gen. Chinese and she was probably of Peruvian descent. Frieda Kahlo coloring. Her amethyst necklace was as big as a dessert plate. And her wedding ring was a diamond gumball. He was talking about "we should take the money and run. And it'll be a surprise for my parents when they arrive." Woman: "$952K, right? So we'll close on Tuesday?"

OK, none of this would have mattered had there not been an authentic, violet porosus croc Hermes 35cm sitting on the floor at her feet.

OMG it was gorgeous. And we struck up a convo; they were really lovely people, not dickish like so many westsiders can be. Those of you in L.A. know what I mean.

These people were dripping old money, but they were perfectly lovely. So my mom wanders out and next thing you know she's grabbing this woman's necklace and after that they're best friends because the woman is reminded of her recently passed-on mum.

I have to say at this point, if I were to buy one auth. HG bag, it would be the BV cabat. OK, again, I know I'm all over the place. Sorry.

BTW, I think OMAS is having a sale on 5+ Hermes Togo leather Birks (35 cm in the "real" Togo leather) certain basic colors like blue jean, black, tan for $600 each I think. At least this was true in October. :flower:B)

The thread has been taken over by Hermes it seems :D
WOw baga that is soooo cute!!<3 Love it!

And the little red kelly is so pretty, the colour is super eye-catching!

bagalicious: FAB as always, sister! Haven't you taught Merlin to take pictures yet? I thought you of all people would've looked into getting some opposable thumbs for him.:flower:
About the Kelly... yeah, that girl in the pic wears it well. Even if you didn't know it was a "label" it still wouldn't scream "Hey look at me! I'm a designer bag! No really, check me out! I cost a lot, and I mean a lot!" You just see her first, not the bag, which I always hate. Although I know if you're all like me, the purse is the first thing you look at on other women. As I've said before the Lizard Kelly is my HG. In a nice rich bordeaux or a brown of some sort. I prefer it to the Birkin, which I also like but something about the Kelly is very dainty and ladylike. Well at least until I see Lady Gaga or something carrying one... then it's getting turfed!
chicadee: I would carry that auth speedy till the handles fell off. That is one bag I would get a ton of use out of.

Sorry about the posting frenzy ladies.... but I didn't get my weekend pass, so I'm stuck here in the nuttershack, and no one came to visit.

SMKelly, that's such a cute story!!! :) It's too bad you couldn't take a pic of her violet croc for us sneakily lol

I live in (for our standards quite a bid city in) the Netherlands and I rarely spot designer bags, and if I do 90% is an obvious fake from a market in Turkey. So when I spot girls, and even women, toting around authentic looking Louis Vuitton or Chanel I'm still highly surprised. Only happens about once every two months haha!

I completely agree! I live in a sizeable city with a young population (mostly students), and I rarely see designer bags - fake or otherwise - on the street. I see quite a few designer-inspired bags, but never the real (or replicated) thing. Of course, whenever I visit Den Haag or Amsterdam, designer bags are much more ubiquitous!

Ah Chiara Ferragni! She is my favourite blogster - she has such an awesome style! She has a great variety of Bal's too. I actually never doubted the authenticity of her bags, funny you mention it! But even if they're fake, it doesn't make her outfits less amazing.

Of course the authenticity doesn't take away from her outfit. After discovering this thread, I give everything a side eye, I guess. Previously, I was of the school of thought that all reps were obvious and could be spotted "a mile away," i.e. cambon ligne, plastic/see through LVs etc. One time I watched this blogger get called out for repping this faux, pretty obvi in my opinion though. I mean, just because you're a blogger doesn't mean that you can resist a good rep when you see one ^_^. Chiara, does have a whole lot of bags, I like her beige jumbo w/gh :crush: (of course)... so classy and sophisticated that color but she pulls it off youngly.

Bagalicous ,you look fab as always and you could pull off any handbag you wanted. It's attitude and style and you have IT!!!

SB, the keepall 45 is perfect. I got it with the shoulder strap. Even when full from all the duty free shopping, it's still manageable and I'm still able to carry it in the crook of my arm comfortably and gracefully. My friend has the 55 and it can get too heavy.

viasarah the GSH framboise day is gorge! it looks like the handle stretched, or is that what it looks like with a lot of stuff in it? when i carried the day empty, it looked so weird. i want to give it another try and stuff it as much as i can to stretch it out!

Well, when I first got it I stacked a bunch of magazines in it and hung it on my door knob for about a day or so. The handles now look like that w/o the magazines. I'm still in the process of stretching the handles since I want that saggy look (weird i know).

chicadee Thanks! The color reminds me of mint chocolate chip/blue cotton candy ice cream lols. I'm definitely getting it in the large money ;).

shelleybean haha my sister and I always joke about that IRL since we're so different .

Agreed. I love Kelly more than Birkin also. This Italian blogger is about 21 and though I don't know much about Hermes, I think it's real. She pulls it off quite casually I think.

I love the way her outfit coordinates naturally with the Kelly. Forgot to mention that she also looks chic as well. I always wanted the Kelly but again I view Birkin bags as mature and my style will clash with it. I'm trying to wait until I'm a little older but Idk that pic totally makes me want to reconsider...

SMKelly, your BV Cabat mention reminded me that bagalicious said she was lookin' to change things up for the New Year and was thinking about some BV from Ja-kay!
so... Baga... what are you looking at?
I'm partial to the Sloane, but I LOVE the Cocker. You'll probably want a Roma Tote, huh? Please don't say one of the "Knot" pieces, I'll fall off my physio ball-come-chair, that would be just too much change, and weird! Like peel your face back cyborg weird!

i love chiara...she has suh a large and VARIED collection of bags... i need to get off my chanel and LV vernis horse and experiment.

i have also decided i want and NEED a box calf kelly, does this omas fellow carry that leather and can someone PM me his deets?

But Chanel is so supreeeme :D! You know it is a new year, maybe I should be more open.

Can someone PM me the OMAs info too, please? I just like to see everything ^_^.

i wouldnt carry a birkin that bigger than 35cm. no matter how "big" u r. the birkin is not slouchy enough. even though the weekender is 20inches (which i think is 50cm, BUT it's soft. the birkin is BULKY , IMO

i have to agree. the togo birkin will soften up with use, but it will still be very structured in most ways. if jacky offered clemence, i would say go with that because that leather DOES pool like a balenciaga after ample use.

i am back and forth with the style/H bag thing. while i do see what some of you are saying, i also think there's something to be said for a girl who wears the opposite of what you'd imagine with a birk or kelly. the juxtaposition is nice, and allows the bag to become a part of the outfit as opposed to the sole item that carries the outfit. the worst thing is when i see women with poor style trotting around with a real or faux birkin. sorry doll, but that bag doesn't equal superb fashion sense, i don't care if it's real and the price tag borders that of a car.

missdaisy - box is very, very delicate. if you find a seller that offers it, be careful. i would suggest black for box because it looks delicious with age and some abuse, versus some of the other colors.

viasarah - thanks for all of the pictures! you have a nice, varied collection of bals! :flower:

You hit it on the head ShelleyBean- I was eyeing up the Roma :innocent: No knots for me tho thanks  The BV roma does look nice, You would think that Ja'kay  would let me use any of his bags, seeing as that I am his girlfriend
2010 is the year of changin my bag wardrobe up...I will prolly be getting one at some point...no rush tho I am having a love affair with Naomi for now.

babybluestar yes, i have beausac's info. thanks for asking. their stuff is amazing just wish it had the stamping. i say this because the birkin is ususally carried open so if it is missing the stamping its a obvious tell sign.

beausac's birkins have MARKING. DM's birkin doesnt have marking :)
but i think someone said beausac is out of business?

Ladies, I'm loving this Birkin love. A few days ago I was googling the Olivia Birkin thing and tPF came up. It was in the "Celebrities and their birkins" from Feb 2009, where someone had posted Olivia and Birkin and someone was like, 'I could be wrong, but it looks fake. those handles are much too long.' To which someone harshly replied, "NO! It's not fake." How little they knew .

SMKelley Thanks BUNCHES! I definitely decided on the 40 cm. Catty's look FABULOUS. (I also picked out a wallet - might as well do the thing properly.) Thanks much for the idea. I like the 40 cm as I feel it will sit better on my frame. (I'm 5'5) My first Executive decision is to go with the Classic - Black. Red to follow! Yippee!

We're having lots o' discussion about carrying the Birk and why or why not and who can pull it off, which is great! :) I think if you can pull it off, you can. The reality is, there are people carrying auth that are being looked at like ???????? while Olivia is strutting her stuff with a rep Birkin and dollars to donuts most people had no clue. :D I love it!

I'm not too worried about people calling me out about a Birk - and yes, Shelleybean - cause Jane Birkin in a sweatsuit told me not to!  (And believe me, I'm as far from Jane Birkin as the East is from the West!) And Shellybean, baby, if anyone could pull off a Birk I feel CONFIDENT it would be YOU!

I think at this point, I just want one. I'll deal with "OMG, is that a REAL Birk?!" cross-examiners as they come. I've got a million and one outfits to wear it with; a plan for the summer to make it my main squeeze and a cozy spot on my bag shelf for it. :D

I think that Palermo's black birkin is a rep too. It truly grates my nerves how some people are instantly beyond questioning. I'm sure if I'd posted a short-footed, interesting-lookinh birkin over there, i'd've been run out of town.

I'm so over judging this whole thing(real-fake). As long as no one is trying to sell a rep to someone at a real price (or gift it as auth), I can't care...I've got more to think about.

I do wonder what happens on the consigment/resale circuit... I imagine that they really have to stay sharp.

I've read (at The Pee Eff) that the rep Birkins have a loud or bad smell? Is that true? I haven't seen one IRL (as far as i know) yet.

i dont believe anything they say about rep, lol^
they say rep fall apart in 3 months. i've used mine for 1 year and still GREAT!!!!

My favorite things to wear with H are denim overalls, converse, hoodies, thrift/import items etc. ...OTOH If I'm wearing label-y clothes then I go with my random accessories.

...balance is important to me.
I get lux-overload nausea easily.

To bagalicious and everyone who has bought a ps1 from jacky- any concerns? I saw in an earlier post that they are very close to the authentic. I think I'm going to take the plunge :)
