RE: The latest batch of black leather:

My black Brief GGH leather is thick and matte, not shiny, BUT a little dry. And the coloring/dye is a tad uneven. There was an area on the front side, next to the seam that runs down the middle, where the black dye looked faded . The corners were a bit faded too. But since I got the bag 2 weeks ago, I have been slathering it with mineral oil, which has darkened those spots and now it matches better with the rest of the bag. Makes the leather super-conditioned too, and looks pretty rich. I would NEVER do this with a lighter colored bag since the oil could ruin the color, but it works great with black.

I was pretty disappointed with the flaws at first, since there were so many rave reviews of the new black leather, but at least I had a homemade remedy to make things better. I think the variations we are experiencing may be due to the fact that they use hides from different animals (goats in this case) to fulfill a complete run of bags, and each hide can be a little different in the way it absorbs the dye treatment. Just my theory, I'm not a leather making expert!! The streaky tassels on the RH bags, I have no explanation for, that just sounds like bad quality control. I just hope the next bag I get, a black Weekender RH, WILL be of the same amazing quality as dangermouse's (my inspiration!)

About the tassels, I'm thinking of using a permanent black ink marker to colour the white edges. Any other suggestions?

Xooey, don't use the marker, it makes a weird blue/black color in the sunlight. Instead, go to your local shoe repair guy. They should sell some leather dye, I use Fieblings, it even comes with a little dauber with a handle. It works great on the unfinished edges.

I received my black City RH yesterday... I thought it was a tad dry so I Appled it last night and it fixed it right up. I will inspect my tassles better tonight and report back.

Also, I asked the boys about an Amethyst Twiggy and they told me that they are in production now!

Maybe if the mods made a thread for " ioffer pros and cons of the same bag thread" Example- the channel jumbo (members could post there bag, a simple Jacky or a catty as reference to where they bought it, and a description of detail pros and cons) this way you could just go to that thread as a reference..and decide what bag is best to buy from where.
It seems that members are always asking the same questions about Jackys this or cattys that I think it would be awesome having a thread with different ioffer rep styles to ref and look at.

As for catty's birkin, can you take close up pics of the front HW font style and the heatstamp? I want to see the lining and inner zip, too and compare it to omas-I can't justify a $700+ bag right now, so I may need to 'settle' for catty's (which looks great , by the way).

Is that how much Omas birkins run?? Do you think they are legit enough to take into Hermes?

We've tried opening different threads last year and they were immediately taken down. The only threads we were allowed to open were the ioffer shoes and the ioffer accessories.


Also, this thread is meant to be for all reps. I know it gets tiring to see people asking the same thing over and over again, so we please ask newbies to search the other 3 threads dedicated to reps in bags for all of this info. I've personally read 900 pages + and updated myself before asking questions (well one reason being that it took me a while to get an invite!!)


So going back to the LV question. It really depends on the style. I have both from C and J and there is no such thing as a perfect rep. Some are better than others

I've just received my Black RH City from the latest batch too. I was assured it would look like the fab, matte leather of my Black FC. I am sad to say that the Black RH City is shiny, such that a family member commented it looked like plastic. Apple Leather Care conditioner helped to dull the shine. Helens, you may like to try applying conditioner to the bag. There's also something wrong with all the tassels of the Black City. I'm disappointed.

so sorry this happened to some of you. i knew it would eventually. i've been holding off on a PT with GGH because of this. so many gorgeous work GGHs made me want that combo, but i have so many awesome large bags that another work doesn't make sense for my bag wardrobe atm. i thought i'd try the PT style (i don't have one yet), but when t&d were so sure it was the exact same leather, i got weary. sometimes they try to be just a little too convincing and it's easy to see through.

i have a ps1 in medium and it's a good, everyday bag size IMO...
if you are a person that loves balenciaga works or part time, then you'll probably want a large...
a large can also hold a laptop (so i've heard)...

i'm assuming the purple is purple leather, not suede...
