Jean Paul Gaultier F/W 06.07 Paris

I don't know why I have a soft spot for him. Maybe because there are ALWAYS individual pieces in his collections that are really beautiful, and everything is extremly well made. Can't see much here becaues of the fur/theatrics overload, but it'd be cool to see it in stores.

^ Yes, it usually is very well made. I really like the slightly romantic, dark mood... And the clothes seem to be very wearable...

the whole 'pet' thing is a bit pretentious and naive.
i hate the clothes.

It's pretty sick to use fur and living animals in the same look. Just as those dolls look pretty creepy. But I really don't care about either fact, because it all looks stunning and highly sophisticated! Absolutely spectacular!

I LOVE it!

I like the way he used living animals! original

the owl is so Harry Potter

can you be pretentious and naive at the same time?

yeah, i thought that was cruel too... but could it be synthetic fur?

I doubt that... Gaultier always uses real fur.

The good thing about Gaultier is that he doesn't always rely or feed off of his couture designs and he starts new. Good stuff.

that mongolian lamb coat is ugly... I think I gotta wait for more pics... so far I like just that owl and afghan greyhound :innocent::D

Paris is impressing me more and more by the minute! Aaah! I'm in love with this! I agree with tott about it being a bit dark, and romantic... a tad of insanity thrown in... all while still being wearable, which is hard to pull off.

I hear Gaultier's doing HM Madonna's costumes for the summer tour. I'm looking forward to seeing if he'll incorporate some of this stuff into her wardrobe. It's definitely interesting stuff, even crazier than I expected.
I read about that too - that Gaultier is designing Madge's costumes for the upcoming tour. Cna't wait to go! :)

This collection is interesting with the use of the the fur and feathers. Strange runway show IMO to see live animals with the models. It must have been a real zoo backstage!

I like this, some of the (non-hairy) outfits are very covetable:ninja: Now if only they would drop the domestic animals which are blocking all the great front details and the patchy-old-grey-granny-hairdos that you only see in witch-related fairy tales usually involving a deliciously edible young child and a mole, it'd be even more fantastic:lol:

Has anyone noticed that the two mongolian lamb coats look EXACTLY the same?

I really hate fur, it's such an anti-modern idea to kill an animal for the luxury of it's pelt. It's one of the worst displays of high fashion's frivolity. Far too excessive. At least some like Rick Owens for Revillon use it in tasteful and discrete (as discrete as fur can be) way.
