Jean-Paul Gaultier Haute Couture F/W 2005.06 Paris

Gaultier can hem my sleeve anytime, if you know what i mean. he is so amazing. Personally in enjoy the ad campaign for his cologne. Those sailors can pull my anchor anyday.

Agreed, one of the season's finest. He's managed to give his stamp on a trend that has been in the air in all markets and given it the final seal of approval. His forte, like YSL himself, was not to always be the first to start a trend, but to do it BEST. That is what (fashion) history remembers.

great point bacchus :flower:

stunning couture. IMHO, John Galliano should be ashamed of himself...

I wish JPG can maintain can maintain his sales....:/ I would be really sad if he quits, because for me, the only ones worth looking would be Chanel and Anne Varie Hash, and Givency, if the house has managed to stay alive.

Still one of my favorite runway collections. I don't see a single weak piece here. The bridal piece, red coat w/ fur lining, and green gown are nothing short amazing. This, to me, is definitely my idea of what a couture collection can look like.

This is one of those super-rare collections, and shows, that's absolutely perfect from beginning to end...the design of the clothes, the textiles, the colors, the accessories, the cast, make-up, styling, hair (CRIMPED hair, mind you)..all of it combines perfectly here. And a completely cohesive collections as well, which I think he lost in more HC current collections.

(PS: Not the best pic for the thumbnail. Blame youtube, not me.)

I have to come back here a third time to comment because I’ve watched the video several more times and it’s honestly one of the most enchanting Couture shows ever.

The clothes are absolute masterpieces, each and every piece. Masterpieces of refinement and skill…the epitome of savoir faire…clothing so perfectly made it’s almost as if they’re clothes that have existed forever and they actually look like real clothes. It’s hard to describe, but designers today make clothes that are so thoughtless and cheap it’s as if their clothes are fake and unreal and out of context.

These are the kind of clothes that you could get lost examining every endless detail, but at the same time, that’s not even what it’s about…it’s so effortless and sublime it’s enough even just to look at it on a tiny screen and be under its spell.
